Extended Summary
Josie’s not coping with the break-up at all. She lies on her couch, locked away and refusing to let anyone in. Jesse finds out about this and pays her a visit – but not for the reason she thinks. He’s come to get the last of his stuff. Not only that…he wants the engagement ring back. Josie is crushed. She gives it to him.
Things only get worse when Marc turns up at the door a few minutes after Jesse leaves. He’s been lying low for a while – but he still expects the payments. Josie flies into a rage, but he easily repels her. She tells him she’s going to do whatever it takes to get rid of him for good.
Scott helps Hayley pack up the Bar, and in a remarkable twist of fate, they get locked in the storeroom together. They cry for help, but it’s no use. Hayley says she’s supposed to meet Kim at the Diner later on, he’ll come looking when she doesn’t turn up. But over at the Diner, Kim’s hooked up with Zoe and the two of them are oblivious to the world.
Marc deigns to show his smarmy face at the Diner, but an ill-placed comment directed at Jesse sees him lying flat on the floor – courtesy of a Jesse McGregor right hook.
Josie calls Tasha over to her apartment: she’s decided to come clean about her secrets to negate Marc’s blackmail threat. She tells Tasha about being a Madam in a brothel. Tasha is shocked and a little disappointed, but doesn’t hold any ill-will. Does this mean she can make Marc disappear? Josie says unfortunately there are a few other secrets she can’t tell, but she’s going to discredit Marc so no-one will believe what he has to say.
Scott starts reminiscing about his Dad. He and Hayley realise they have a connection – both lost their fathers. Their discussions become more intimate – the attraction stronger. Meanwhile, Kim realise it’s been a while since Hayley was supposed to arrive. Kim makes a call, but Hayley’s mobile is up at the bar. He assumes she went home and crashed. He returns to flirting with Zoe and organising a real date for the following night.
Peter’s investigation into the Stalker and Sarah Lewis is reaches a dead end. Suddenly Josie arrives and says she thinks Marc is the Stalker. Her reasons are that he’s insane, the incidents started when he came to town, and the missing tape. Peter says he’ll dig a little, but all her evidence is circumstantial – he needs proof.
Hayley and Scott realise they’re stuck for the night. Hayley quizzes Scott about Lisa and why he left town. Scott admits he had a crush on Hayley, but realised his feelings were unrequited (she just wanted to be mates). For a moment it looks like Hayley will admit her feelings for Scott, but he changes the subject. Hayley is deflated – did she miss her chance? Scott snuggles up to her to keep her warm, which makes them both feel uncomfortable. There’s the sense they both feel something, but neither will voice it.
Peter is called out to an abandoned van in the bush and discovers a veritable treasure trove of terror on its walls; photos of Sally, Flynn and Pippa and the Hunters; a Tick Tock card; scenic flight vouchers; fliers and newspaper articles…It’s the Stalker’s lair!
