Extended Summary

As they wait for Diana and Olivia to arrive, James explains he’s been working as a doctor in the UK. Irene tries to get a heads up from James about what’s so important in the will to drag Diana and Olivia back there, but James won’t say until they arrive.

Ric’s concerned that him and Cassie haven’t slept together since the first time. Cassie tries to reassure him, telling him there hasn’t been any opportunity but Ric isn’t convinced. When Cassie starts receiving phone messages from a guy named, Steve, his suspicions are stirred. Cassie, meanwhile, is highly unimpressed when Wazza makes a comment which reveals that Ric has talked to him about sleeping with her. After another clandestine phone call, Cassie explains to Matilda that if Ric asks, they’re having a girls’ night tonight. Matilda wonders what’s going on? But Cassie is vague…it’s complicated.

Diana arrives with Oliva, who’s thrilled to see Irene and her Uncle. Diana and James, however, are cool with each other. Diana wants to know why she would have to be there for the reading of Chloe’s will – the girl certainly had nothing to leave her! James wryly explains the meeting is not about Chloe’s assets – it’s about Olivia! Chloe made a special provision under no circumstances is Diana to be given custody of Olivia. Diana fumes, saying, there’s no way she’s going to let Irene get custody. The women start to bicker, until James finally clarifies – Irene’s not getting custody… He is! Diana is furious, but Irene reckons it’s perfect. Olivia’s happy and this is obviously what Chloe wanted. She gives a heartfelt goodbye to Olivia, promising to keep in touch.

Irene apologises to Hyde for the way she’s spoken to him lately and raises the issue of ‘them’. Hyde suggests they let the dust settle first…but Irene doesn’t think it’s going to change anything. Irene so wishes things could be different but the reality is their lives are moving in two separate directions. Hyde has to agree. The immense regret is clear. They embrace, tightly. It’s the end of their relationship but a deep friendship is clearly set to remain. Meanwhile, Hayley tells Kim she knows the path to the place they’re at now has been tumultuous, but the one thing that she’s become increasingly convinced of is what an amazing life them and their baby could have together. They lean in for a kiss…just because it’s right…just because they want to…

Ric sees Matilda when she was supposed to be with Cassie. Later, when Cassie returns home, Ric gives her the opportunity to come clean, but she continues the lie telling him all about her night with Matilda. Ric’s confusion is further sent into turmoil when he reads a text message on her phone from Steve saying: “Thanks for tonight, you’re amazing…and don’t worry – Ric won’t find out a thing”. Ric’s face falls – Cassie’s cheating on him?!
