Extended Summary

A frantic Sally is trying to get some answers about Flynn’s operation. Cassie and Ric sit nearby, tensions still high between them. Cassie thinks Ric is selfish for carrying this bad attitude in to hospital and a heated argument ensues. Sally finally loses it! She wants them both to grow up! Her husband is in there, dying, and all they can think about is their own problems!

Meanwhile, Scott walks along the beach still reeling from seeing Peter at the derelict house. He looks down at today’s headline – Local Police Deny Internal Affairs Investigation. Could Peter be corrupt?! Later, Scott tentatively asks Dan if he’s sure Pete’s on holiday with Clare. Dan asks why? Scott explains he saw Peter up at the house with drugs. Dan can’t get his head around it.

Sally, Cassie and Ric are relieved when the surgeon comes out to tell them that although it was touch and go there for a while, he expects Flynn to make a full recovery. They tried to save the spleen but there was little they could do. Sally goes in to see him while he sleeping. Tears of relief running down her cheeks as she admits she thought she’d lost him.

Dan phones Pete and asks how his holiday with Clare is going. Peter says it’s really good. Dan is genuinely relieved to hear it and is irritated at Scott for pushing things. Scott’s confused, doubting his own eyes. But as Peter hangs up, we see he’s lying to Dan and is still in the Bay.

All alone with Sally, Flynn admits how scared he was. All he could think about was Sally and the kids. If something happened to him, what would they do? They’ve got such a good thing going, he was so scared of losing it. Outside, Ric asks Alf if he can stay with him for a while. Alf wants to know why? But Ric just shoots a look at Cassie. Cassie shakes her head – she can’t believe Ric’s running out – Sally needs him! Ric flares, he’s doing this for Sally! The last thing she needs is them at each other’s throats!!

Dan’s out for an early morning walk when he sees Peter. Peter’s caught a little off guard but quickly covers saying he got an early flight back this morning. Dan can’t help but be suspicious – he knows his brother’s hiding something! Alone, Dan grabs his mobile and calls Clare. Clare admits she misses Peter terribly; it’s been weeks. It becomes clear to Dan, Pete’s lying.

Flynn gives Ric a fatherly talk saying that Ric’s problems with Cassie don’t just affect him and Cassie – but Sally, Flynn and Pippa. They’re a family… Flynn admits when he was out there in the bush, dying, he was comforted by the knowledge that Ric could handle things if something happened to him. Ric takes Flynn’s heartfelt speech on board. Outside, Ric pulls Cassie aside and tells her that what they have at Summer Bay house is special and he wants to find a way to make it work. Cassie smiles; she’s pleased to hear it.

Scott and Dan arrive at the derelict house to see Peter’s car there. Dan walks inside to find Peter and the drug paraphernalia! Back in the car, Scott sees a second vehicle and two dodgy looking guys approach the house. Inside, Peter’s desperate to get rid of Dan, but Dan wants answers! The crooks approach and the only place Dan can hide is behind the front door. Peter makes the deal and the crooks load the drugs into a bag and hand over a wad of cash. As the crooks head out the front door, Dan shifts slightly and the floor creaks. Despite Peter’s assurances, the crooks find Dan and pull him out roughly demanding to know what’s going on? Outside, Scott’s anxiously waiting when he hears a gun blast from the house!
