Extended Summary

Dan pulls up at the designated rendezvous point – with Amanda. He checks his watch – they’re a little early. Dan does his best to reassure Amanda, but Amanda promises that she’ll never forgive him for this… Never! Meanwhile, Kim, with a six pack of beer in hand, arrives at a pumping house party. Kylie introduces Kim to a few of her friends. They’re pretty way-out, not the sort of people Kim would normally associate with… Kim is introduced to Dean – who’s throwing the party. He sees Kim’s beer and reckons that’s a lame, pouring Kim a straight shot of spirits. Kim smiles as he downs his drink – let’s party!

A car pulls up and Dan approaches the vehicle as Dudley steps out. Dan pulls no punches – where is he? Dudley smiles and opens the car door – and Ryan hops out… He’s licking an ice cream and reading a comic book. Dan sends him off to the car – and watches as Ryan is reunited with his mother. Dudley says he wants all the money by tomorrow otherwise Ryan will taken for another, longer drive… They may have got Ryan back, but Dan is still in big trouble… Dan, Amanda and Ryan return to the house. Ryan’s in good spirits after his ‘adventure’. Amanda, tight with anxiety but doing her best to hide it in front of her son, wants Ryan to go and put some clothes in his backpack – he’s going to be coming to stay with mummy tonight. Amanda’s furious.

Kim’s had a few drinks now, and is venting all of his frustrations re: Scott and Hayley to Kylie. Kylie wants Kim to let it go and offers him another pill. Kim shares a smile with Kylie as she drags him on to the dance floor! Kim is throwing all caution to the wind – and he doesn’t care! Kylie is dragging Kim through the house, looking for a quiet place to make out! As they enter, they walk past a whole group of people who are completely out of it in the living room! Kim is a bit taken aback by what he sees. Kylie notes his surprise. She explains that there’s always a few who get in to the heavy stuff –but Kylie’s never been interested. Someone yells out – it’s the cops! People rush everywhere as Jack enters the house and comes face to face with Kim. What the hell are you doing here?! On Kim, caught… Meanwhile, Dan sells his car for $8500 and hands it over to Dudley, saying he’ll get the other ten – he just needs more time. Dudley’s not very pleased about this – saying he wants $12,000 by next week. Dan is outraged – he only owes ten! Dudley – not anymore! Will this nightmare ever end?

Irene is waiting anxiously as Hyde and Kim return from the police station. Hyde can’t express how disappointed he is in Kim. But Kim refuses to listen and storms off, leaving a frustrated Hyde and Irene… Meanwhile, Dan tells Amanda to get Ryan out of the Bay. Amanda nods – okay. Dan hugs Ryan and holds him for a beat longer than normal, only just holding it together.

Noah is crying (from Hayley’s room) when Kim comes out of his bedroom. Kim calls out for Irene now – but then he realises the shower is on… Kim hesitates then moves in to check on the baby. At seeing Noah, Kim’s hurt is clear. He props at the door, overwhelmed by the pain he feels…

Leah is cleaning up when a betting tickets falls out from Dan’s pockets – it has the name Dudley Shepard on it – and an amount of $20,000 listed! Dan arrives home to see her standing there with the ticket. His face falls. Leah – what the hell is going on, Dan?
