Kim is forced finally to deal with his loss when he says goodbye to baby Noah. Josh and Amanda’s devious plan causes Graham to make a shocking announcement.
Extended Summary
The showdown is in full swing as Morag questions Amanda on her involvement with Josh and the Tiverson company. Amanda does her best to act oblivious, but is deeply rattled that Morag’s suspicions are so spot on. Morag leaves her with the warning she will uncover the truth! Amanda phones Josh, demanding he return to the Bay immediately to deal with Morag.
Josh arrives and sarcastically remarks the problem would be resolved if they had their hands on Graham’s money – and the best way to Graham’s heart (and money!) is long term commitment – Amanda is shocked – realising Josh is implying she should marry Graham for his money. Their plan takes shape when Graham “accidentally” discovers two platinum rings in his apartment. Amanda feigns her embarrassment, insisting it was all meant to be a surprise but given the recent tension between her and his family – marriage is out of the question. Graham is left pondering on the idea.
Beth, too, is on a mission to convince her father he is making a big mistake – but her plan to remain civil goes out the window when Beth spots the rings sitting on the table. Beth is absolutely furious that Graham would be so foolish as to propose to Amanda – not giving him the chance to explain it was actually Amanda’s idea. Graham gets his back up and orders Beth out – how dare she tell him what to do? Has Beth done more harm than good? Graham finds Amanda at the Surf Club and orders a bottle of champers – it’s time to celebrate as he asks Amanda for her hand in marriage! She milks the moment for all that she can – a devious smile appearing on her face. She’s reeled him in hook, line and sinker!
Kim stumbles in the door, looking bedraggled after a big night out with Kylie. There is immediate tension when he sees Hayley and Scott packing up their things for their move to France. Kim’s self destructive attitude remains a concern – although the others understand it is a front to conceal the hurt he has felt since losing Noah.
Scott confronts Kim but presses all the wrong buttons when he tells Kim he is being a complete jerk. Hyde tries to intervene as things heat up but winds up receiving the punch intended for Scott. Hyde rips in to Kim and admits he is disgusted with his son’s behaviour – he is not half the man he thought he was and escaping to a world of drinking and drugs won’t solve things. The truth hurts!!
Kim returns home where Hayley is alone with Baby Noah. Hayley has to go to the real estate agents to finalise the gym paperwork…earlier than expected. Hayley wonders if Kim would mind keeping an eye on Noah – Kim disagrees but then relents when he sees Hayley needs his help.
Baby Noah starts to cry. Kim hesitates, not wanting to get close to Noah but eventually picks him up and holds him close. He is overwhelmed by a mixture of emotions – pain, loss and love. The others arrive home to see Kim cradling Noah in his arms. Kim apologises for his recent behaviour and although difficult for Kim to admit, he opens up to the fact he hadn’t dealt with the loss of Noah – but today he had the chance to say goodbye.
