Matilda emerges from her room and is hurt and angered – how could Lucas do such a thing? Lucas fires up claiming that ever since they moved in with the Hunters, everything has gone wrong. He storms off to his room, still defiant. Later, Tony approaches Jack on the beach, who is surprised to see his Dad sporting a shiner. Jack is equally shocked that Lucas has resorted to such violence. Tony is at his wit’s end how to handle this one and Jack insists he will do his best to get through to his brother. Jack tracks down Lucas and does his best to appear upbeat but Lucas tells him to quit the act. Lucas isn’t drinking and taking drugs and although he’s sorry for hurting his father, he’s angry at the world. Jack tries to offer advice but Lucas insists he just save his breath. Jack moves off, disappointed he hasn’t been able to help his brother. Meanwhile, Matilda is pouring her heart out to Cassie. She apologises for her catfight with Belle. She is struggling to keep her emotions under control. Cassie insists she needs a distraction – there’s an under 18’s gig at the Surf Club tonight. Matilda agrees reluctantly but is grateful to Cassie for cheering her up.
Tony tries again to talk to Lucas but in no time, Lucas’ insolence gets the better of Tony, who ends up grounding him. Lucas can’t believe he’s being treated like such a child. He insists he’s going to the gig at the Surf Club, but Tony is firm. Lucas is in his dressing gown – he’s going to bed! He then removes his dressing gown, underneath he is dressed in his party clothes! So much for being grounded! The Surf Club is buzzing and Matilda is starting to think this wasn’t such a bad idea after all – that is, until Lucas appears. Matilda moves across and insists she will tell Tony and Beth. Lucas bites back – he knows all about the catfight. Matilda watches in disgust as he moves off to join a scantily dressed girl, Lee. The flirting continues and in no time Lee and Lucas are locked in a kiss. Matilda is deeply humiliated, as Cassie ushers her out the door.
It’s the morning after and Tony and Beth know there’s more to Matilda’s despondent mood. Tony comments on how quiet Lucas was last night and Matilda bites her tongue, as Tony moves off to check on him, Tony opens the door to discover Lee in bed and Lucas hastily buttoning up his shirt! Tony is gobsmacked – what the hell is going on here?!! Lee quickly vacates before a huge argument erupts. Poor Matilda’s heart is breaking – the implications of what Lucas has been up to are clear. Beth comforts Matilda as she burst into tears – what happened to the Lucas she loved?
Jack arrives home from work, exhausted. He hasn’t seen Martha in days as he’s been keeping busy with his investigation on Peter. He is sure there is a connection between Peter and Zoe but is frustrated he can’t figure out what it is. Martha suggests it may have something to do with the first year anniversary since Zoe’s death. Martha will never forget the 3rd of May when Sally was locked in the shed and lucky to get out alive. The date rings a bell for Jack…but how? Meanwhile, Peter is sitting looking at his wall which is covered in surveillance pictures and articles – what is Peter up to?!
Jack is back in the station. Fitzgerald dumps a stack of paperwork on his desk. Jack moans at the thought but then realises they are missing persons’ files. As he sorts through the files he comes across one for Laura McPherson and suddenly the significance of the date 3rd May hits him. He remembers Peter explaining the case was closed, but Jack’s eyes light up – he’s finally on to something! Jack asks Fitzgerald about the identification of Zoe’s body after the explosion and is surprised to learn her dental records were not on file but it was assumed it was her body. Jack takes this in curiously – is he about to discover the truth?
Jack is intrigued to discover Laura McPherson’s personal stats are identical to Zoe’s. Jack races home and informs Martha that Laura went missing the same day Zoe supposedly died.
What if the body discovered in the shed was Laura’s and not Zoe’s. The implications are sinking in for Martha – is Zoe still alive?
