Extended Summary
Peter is in shock and can’t believe he has escaped death. He’s seriously rattled now! Back at the Station, Peter is giving his team the run-down on the shooting and sends them out – desperate to find the bullet cases. He reiterates the need for discretion. Harper expresses his concern for Peter’s safety and wonders if his liaison, Tracey, has had any leads. At that moment, Detective Tracey Thomson appears in the door – what is she doing here? Peter finishes bringing Tracey up to speed on Zoe’s latest antics. Tracey insists she is there to help with the investigation – especially since Zoe has upped the ante. Peter appreciates the extra support. Harper enters with the news that they have done a thorough search around the Surf Club and there have been no signs of bullet holes or cases found. Peter is frustrated and angry – that’s impossible! Resigned to idea he’s working with incompetence, Peter moves off to search for himself. Tracey does her best to calm Peter as he arrives at the scene and rips in to his team for being so useless. It’s obvious the latest events are taking their toll! Tracey talks Peter in to returning to the station but when they arrive, Peter is curious of a package he sees sitting on his desk. Hesitantly, he opens it and is alarmed to find a box of blank bullets inside. This time the note reads: “Next time the bullets will be real”. Peter is absolutely irate, as he roars in to the adjoining office demanding someone explain how the package came to be on his desk. He is greeted with blank looks. Once again – no one saw a thing! Tracey reminds him Zoe is messing with his mind and if he allows that to happen – then she has won. There is a commotion in the background as a call comes in, there’s been a break in. Peter’s face falls as they read out the address – that’s his place!!
Peter and Tracey race towards his apartment. They tentatively move inside and discover the place has been trashed. This is definitely the work of Zoe. Peter begins searching through the mess and his heart drops as he pulls open a drawer to discover a ticking bomb inside. The timer is counting down…only 2 and half minutes to go! Peter is on the phone to the bomb squad as Tracey helps evacuate the building. Peter frantically talks himself through dismantling the bomb. He holds his breath and cuts a wire. Nothing! The bomb keeps ticking and time is running out but will Peter risk his life? Tracey is by his side insisting they’re in this together. The bomb clicks down, 3…2…Peter grabs Tracey as they crash to the ground…1…zero! Then there is silence. Peter and Tracey realise the bomb is a fake! Peter is seriously rattled – Zoe’s taunts are seriously taking their toll.
Kim is trying to cope with the constant pester of reporters calling to talk about Hyde. He slams down the phone, as Rachel puts a comforting arm around him. The news bulletin comes over the radio and they are both horrified that the lead story is about Hyde and the community’s outrage towards him being granted bail. The phone rings again and Kim picks it up, ready to blast the person at the other end but his falls when he realises it’s not a reporter. Kim and Rachel arrive at the Diner door only to be confronted by an angry mob of reporters and photographers. Hyde watches on, hurt and humiliated. Kim struggles with one persistent reporter, as Charlie approaches, determined to help his friend. Once inside the apartment, Hyde apologises for the shame he has brought upon Kim. Kim thanks Charlie for his help and clearly his praise means more to him than Kim could imagine. Charlie leaves but on his way out spots the same persistent reporter. Charlie’s dark side emerges and he lunges at the reporter – threatening his life if he goes near Kim again! Later that night, Rachel and Kim are at home discussing their sympathetic feelings for Hyde. Their conversation is interrupted by the phone ringing. It’s Charlie. Charlie proceeds to proudly tell Kim he warned off the reporter. Kim is appreciative. Charlie puts down the phone and emerges from the darkened room in the Surf Club – but what’s this? – he’s dressed in Kim’s uniform! He pins Kim’s name badge on and smiles, satisfied as he eyes himself in the mirror. Uh-oh…Charlie’s obsession is getting weirder!
