Peter’s asleep when a noise outside wakes him – on alert after the bomb scare he gets out of bed to investigate. He heads outside – there’s no sign of anyone. As he turns to head back to his apartment he lets out a gasp – standing before him is the black hooded figure of the Summer Bay Stalker! Peter is rooted to the spot, wide-eyed with shock, as the Stalker lifts a gun and points it at him – Peter screams ‘Nooooo…’ then a shot rings out! Peter wakes with a start, sweat pouring as he realises it was a shocking nightmare. Zoe’s presence is taking its toll on him… Later that day Peter is still edgy. He talks to Fitzgerald about the hunt for Zoe – there haven’t been any leads since last week. He can’t understand how Zoe can be loitering around the place with no sighting of her at all. Fitzgerald thinks Zoe must be working with someone…
It’s all celebration at the Holden House as everyone congratulates Martha and Jack on their engagement. Tony didn’t even know Jack was planning it! Jack admits he wasn’t planning it at all – he just got the idea and ran with it! Jack heads off to work, beaming and tells them of his engagement to Martha – they congratulate him, the mood shifting quickly when Jack asks for an update. Big stuff has gone down. Jack is stunned to hear that Zoe is back in the Bay – Peter doesn’t want word to get out – the last thing they need is mass hysteria. Peter wants Jack to keep a lid on it and knowing Martha is aware Zoe is alive, wants her to do the same. Peter shows him a document covering all of Zoe’s escapades – seems she is re-enacting them all to torment the town – they have to stay a step ahead of her. There was also a break in at Summer Bay House, which Pete thinks she was responsible for too. Jack pours over the documents when he’s interrupted by Martha who brings in a special lunch for her fiancé! She clocks how flustered he is and sees the documents he was looking at and does a double take. She asks if Zoe is back in the Bay? Jack’s face falls… He fills her in and tells her she can’t tell anyone. He promises that they’ll handle it. Will she keep it to herself? Peter rips into Jack about telling Martha about Zoe. Fitzgerald has to step in to break it up – Jack assures them Martha won’t say anything – Peter says he’d better be right or the whole town will be in more danger.
Martha heads down to the Surf Club, lost in thought about the Zoe situation, when she passes Robbie, Tasha, Alf, Sally, Lucas and Matilda who are organising a surprise engagement party for her and Jack. They fall silent when she passes – she has no idea what they’re up to. Alf calls her on her silence – what’s going on? She moves to the group and keeps her knowledge to herself and before too long moves off. Someone is watching the group from a distance – but who? Alf and Sally discuss Martha’s distraction as they head back to the house and as Sally heads to unlock the door she sees that it’s slightly ajar – the house has been completely trashed!
At the Surf Club, Ric helps clean up, distracted by his discovery of drugs in Macca’s jacket pocket. He’s worried about Cass and Belle is tired of him not listening to her – he’s on another planet! Belle heads home in a huff – Alf wonders what got into her? Ric asks Alf a ‘hypothetical’ about helping out a friend if you knew they were with someone who was up to no good. Alf reckons it would depend on what the no good was and if the mate was in danger. Ric thanks him for his advice and heads off – leaving Alf wondering what in the flamin’ hell is going on? Ric sees Cassie that night, but can’t tell her about Macca because she seems so happy with him – what’s he going to do? Ric heads to the Holden House and comes straight out with it to Macca about the drugs he found. Macca explains he started using speed for night shift driving a while back – heaps of truckies use it! Macca denies being hooked on it. Ric asks why he hasn’t told Cassie if it isn’t a big deal? Macca says he’ll tip the rest down the sink if he doesn’t say anything to Cassie. Later, Ric apologises to Belle – he didn’t mean to ignore her, he’s just worried about Cass – he doesn’t like Macca. Belle asks him to pay more attention to his current girlfriend than his ex!
Macca and Cassie are at the beach – his tiredness getting the better of him – he heads to get juices. The queue is long and Cassie runs in wanting to know what’s taking so long? She pulls his arm to lead him out and he drops one of the juices – Macca’s narky and has a real go at Cassie. He pulls himself back, realising how horrid he’s just been. Cassie moves off, taken aback by his agro, when Macca makes a call to his dealer – he needs more stuff, pronto!
Macca meets the dealer later in the games room and gets his speed before returning home with Cassie. He’s on top of the world again having his ‘energy’ back. He dashes off to the shower and Cassie picks up their stuff. Doing so, she finds the rest of his speed!
Cassie confronts him on his return. He has a go at her for going through his stuff. He tries to explain, but she keeps ripping into him. His agitation increases throughout, leading to a struggle with Cassie to get the rest of his speed back – she calls him a liar and holds it away from him – Macca loses it to the point where he hits her!
