Peter and Zoe face off in an explosive final showdown.
Extended Summary
Peter approaches the abattoir – he looks ahead at the building – flashes of his last encounter with Zoe flashing before his eyes. He gets out of his car, gun drawn and moves inside. He searches carefully, but there is no sign of her – he calls out, no response. As he moves to the centre, a giant hook swings at him, like last time. He looks up to see the black clad figure of the hooded Zoe running out. It’s exactly the same as last time as Peter runs after her then she comes up behind him and tries to hit him over the head, but he ducks in time. They struggle, Peter’s gun goes flying off, then Zoe gets away. A massive chase around the building, Peter close behind. She disappears again, he searches, then feels something pressed against his back – he turns to her as requested, Zoe pointing a gun at him – she got him! She removes her balaclava ‘Game Over Peter’!!
Martha has a light go at Jack for not taking her wedding ideas seriously, as they head to the Station. Robbie and Tasha tag along – Rob has been dragged around all day to ‘girls’ shops. Martha wants Jack to come over as soon as work is done to make some decisions. He will – he heads into work and is surprised to see Tracey back. She asks where Peter is? Jack isn’t sure – Rice said he took off in a hurry. Tracey curiously heads out. Jack goes to file some documents in Peter’s office when he sees the open email about the abattoir on his screen – uh oh!
Zoe is still in front of Peter, in control as he asks her how she survived the explosion? Her ‘friend’ Laura McPherson was the body found in the building – Zoe was badly burnt but got away! She has been enjoying reliving the torture she put the town through and wants Peter to get out of her way! She thought it fitting to capture him in the same place as last time – only this time she won’t let him go! Zoe remarks that sequels have to have a bigger and better twist than the original – Peter wonders what this means as Zoe leads him outside – she tells him to stop, he tries to tell her getting rid of him won’t help her – she instructs him to take a few steps backwards and to then turn around – just as Zoe is about to fire – Jack calls out! Zoe turns, Peter rushes at her and a struggle breaks out – Zoe gets the better of him and runs! Jack and Peter chase her – they lose her and split up – Peter hears a yelp – Zoe’s now got Jack and is standing with him at the edge of a steep drop! Peter tries to bargain with Zoe to release Jack, but she’s not interested – now that Jack and Peter have ruined her plan, Peter has to take care of it for her or Jack will die! Jack’s life – or Summer Bay! Peter sees Tracey climbing up behind Zoe a scuffle ensues and Zoe is forced onto the ground allowing Tracey to cuff Zoe! Finally, Zoe has been caught!
Peter, Jack and Tracey debrief about the success in finally catching Zoe – Peter is more quiet throughout, still spinning. Martha rushes in, panic stricken and throws her arms around Jack – relief for the lovers! Peter slips into his office, Tracey follows. He’s letting it all sink it – Tracey doesn’t think that he should do the interview, but he insists he does. Zoe sits in the interview room in total silence as Peter and Tracey enter. Peter and Zoe try to outstare each other – a stand off – he calmly slams her for all the pain she’s caused and how satisfying it will be to watch her be locked up for the rest of her life. Zoe speaks – she’s decided that it isn’t the twist in the sequel that’s important – it’s letting everyone think it’s over, when really there’s a third act to follow. Peter gets worked up hearing this, Tracey steps in to calm him down.
Martha and Alf are wanting to take Jack home – but he wants to wait to see Peter and Tracey first. The emerge and Jack offers his thanks – they saved his life today. Peter returns the gesture, he saved his too! The others move off as Peter expresses his concern for what Zoe just said about the ‘third act’ – Tracey points out that Zoe can’t do anything from behind bars, but Peter isn’t convinced, something doesn’t feel right. Zoe’s had a year to organise this – and for it to end with a fizzle, he doesn’t buy it.
Meanwhile, Zoe sits in the interview room – her smile growing across her face – this is far from over…
