Extended Summary
Irene has just arrived home after her night with Fin in the city – Leah wonders if it cheered her up, given everything happening with Belle? Irene insists that she’s fine – Belle can make her own decisions. It’s clear Irene is hurt by Belle’s move to Amanda’s. Belle is also struggling, trying to settle into her new life with her Mum. Ryan asks Amanda why Belle’s always sad – giving Amanda an idea. She suggests to Belle that they all go for a family dinner, but Belle isn’t up for it. They discuss how this transition may take some time, but Amanda knows she has to do something to help it along… She heads out with Ryan on a mission, as Drew arrives, gloating about pulling the wool over Dan & Leah’s eyes – they bought his ‘studying at the library’ story, when really he was coming to visit Belle. She isn’t impressed and wonders what he wants? He’s persistent, he wants to hang out with her and comments that she’s lonely in this new mansion with no friends, so she should take what she can get. Belle softens, starting to warm to Drew. Amanda & Ryan return with piles of expensive gifts for Belle – clothes, iPod, the works – Belle is stoked! She’s animated as she looks through it all and Amanda couldn’t be happier and lets Belle know that this is just the beginning – she wants her to have the best of everything. Belle promises to make more effort settling in. Amanda comments that she knows it’s been hard with her and Ric breaking up – but sooner or later he’ll see what he’s missing out on. Amanda moves off, leaving a thoughtful Belle…
At the Station, Rice is convinced that Drew is involved with the fires, but Jack’s not convinced. Rice thinks they need to get a warrant to search Dan and Leah’s place – but what if they’re wrong, Jack wonders. Rice reminds him that they have a job to do – he can’t be biased because the kid’s Peter’s son. Rice gets the warrant. Drew arrives home to see Jack & Rice searching the house as Dan & Leah watch on, concerned. Drew flares – he can’t believe this! Jack is apologetic, but they have to do this. Rice eventually emerges from the bedrooms, he’s found a can of the same substance used to start all the fires and the sports bag! All are stunned! Drew protests his innocence as Rice & Jack question him. Drew swears he’s never seen the stuff before and begs Leah and Dan to believe him. They want to, but inside they’re doubting his story. Drew insists he’s been set up as Jack motions for him to come to the Station to be charged with arson! He’ll have a bail hearing tomorrow and is one unhappy camper.
Martha and Tasha are excited to arrive at the cottage, but Tasha notices that Martha is wistful, thinking how this is supposed to be her honeymoon with Jack – but Martha isn’t going to let it get to her – he’ll be here tomorrow to celebrate. The girls move inside and we see Mumma Rose lurking in the bushes!! The girls are setting up the place, when Tasha heads to the car to collect some things. Mumma Rose is lurking nearby and as she’s about to strike, Martha emerges, forcing Mumma Rose to hide. Later that night, Tasha and Martha are relaxing and they decide to head for a walk. Mumma Rose creeps in after they’ve left and spikes their wine with sleeping pills! Having returned from their walk, the girls prepare dinner and Martha has some wine. Tasha becomes awkward at the mention of Jack’s name and Martha clocks it, getting Tasha to open up about it. Tasha insists nothing is going on between them, they were just close when everyone was missing in the bush. Martha reassures her friend that she trusts them both and knows that nothing went on – she’s just glad they had each other as support during it all. Tasha is relieved that it is now out in the open as Martha fills her glass with more (spiked) wine! She starts to get drowsy and decides to head to bed. Tasha, now alone, is relaxing when she hears a noise outside. She moves out the front and just as we think Mumma Rose is going to attack, Martha emerges looking unwell. She’s been vomiting – thinking dinner didn’t agree with her… Jack calls Martha, on the landline, to tell her he can’t make it to the cottage tomorrow – he has more work to do on the pyromaniac case & can’t get away. Martha is furious & vents to Tasha about it. Keen to shake it, she decides to have an open fire tonight & heads off to collect some wood. Tasha moves to the car to get some matches and as she turns around, she’s chilled to the bone to see Mumma Rose standing right in front of her!
