Extended Summary
As Beth and Tony get ready to head to the hospital to meet baby Ella, Tony mentions that he has a staff meeting this afternoon. Beth’s surprised, seeing as it’s the weekend – but Tony understands – Brad is wanting to catch up with them all to get feedback on how they can run each department more effectively, he thinks it’s a positive. Tony has respect for the guy, considering all he’s going through at home with poor Emily too. At the Diner, Brad and Sally are going through the paperwork for the staff meeting and Sally is adamant when she says that ‘he can’t be fired just for the sake of cash – he’s a friend and he’s served the school well’. Brad wishes there was another way – but there isn’t. Later, as the staff meeting wraps up, Brad thanks all for being there and making valuable suggestions. As the staff move out, Brad asks Tony if he’d mind hanging around? Tony asks what’s up and Brad has the unfortunate task of letting Tony know that because of budget cuts, and Tony being the newest addition to the PE Department, that he will have to let him go. Tony is totally shocked – there has to be another way? Brad apologises and informs Tony that this is his two weeks notice. Tony is left reeling!
At the Hospital, Tasha is a little reserved with all the attention over Ella and her being a new ‘mum’ as Robbie explains that he has to head out for a bit (to the Station with Rice…) Tasha calls him on his demeanour and is panicked to see a police officer step into the doorway. Robbie can only just hold it together as he apologises to her… Beth gets a call and is stunned to hear the news, she and Tony race to the Station to find Alf who explains that Morag is in with Robbie as he’s questioned over Graham’s death. Beth can’t believe it as Jack fills her in on the latest… In the interview room, Morag is outraged – Tasha has just given birth and Robbie’s dragged down for this nonsense?! McGrath informs her that a statement has come to light from someone, claiming that Robbie was responsible for Graham’s death. Robbie finally admits what he did and his heart sinks, knowing he’s in big trouble… Meanwhile, Tasha is desperate to know what’s happening with Robbie and when Baby Ella cries, she shuns her, forcing Irene to tend to the babies cries.
Morag emerges from the room and has the horrible task of filling in Beth and Tony on what’s happened. Beth can’t get her head around it and wants to see Robbie as Tony tries to comfort her. Beth hurries in – Robbie is worried about her reaction, but she is on his side, wrapping him in a hug. Robbie explains why he did it, not wanting to be hated, she reassures him, which brings Robbie’s fears of Tasha and Ella to the surface. Beth urges him to not get ahead of himself – we don’t know what’s going to happen yet… At the hospital, Tasha is still at her wits end and she decides to head to the Station, not giving Ella a second thought, leaving Irene holding her. Tasha races in and demands to know what’s going on – Jack has no choice but to reveal that Robbie will be charged with Conduct Occasioning Death!! Robbie is led out and Tasha jumps into his arms, but he tells her to go back to hospital. She reluctantly agrees. At the Beach House, Tasha remains completely shut off to everything, including Ella, as Irene and Martha watch on, concerned at how she’s handling it all. Charity arrives, is shocked by the news, and nurses Ella to help out. Robbie finally comes home and Tasha is thrilled to see him, though nearly in tears. He wants her to stay strong – they can get through this – though he wonders who reported him. The only people who know are us and Martha…oh no…as the woman herself appears to let Tasha know that Ella is hungry. When asked, Martha assures them she didn’t say a word – who the hell else knew what Robbie did? He doesn’t see the point in wondering – the police know the truth and that’s that… Tasha tentatively takes Ella to feed her – feeling very uncomfortable and struggles throughout, not enjoying it or feeling any connection…
Robbie meets up with his mum, telling her there’s not a lot more he can do now but wait and hope Morag can get him out of this mess. Beth wants him to stay positive – he can get through this. On the verge of tears, Beth holds her son, reminding him that they are there every step of the way.
Meanwhile, Tasha is lying on her bed, listening to Ella screaming her lungs out. Unable to deal with any of what’s taking place, Tasha covers her ears with a pillow, trying to block it all out…. Tasha is in a very bad way…
