Extended Summary
Sally is still under the impression that Brad and Martha spent the night together and it’s making things rather awkward. She requests the afternoon off to work from home and as she’s leaving, she sees Cassie sitting alone, fighting back tears. Cass shows her folder to reveal the word ‘scrag’ scrawled across the front. Cassie bursts into tears as Sally comforts her… Sal heads home and runs into Martha – the tension is immediate. Alf comments that she must’ve got in late last night – he was up at one and she still wasn’t home. Martha lies, saying she was out with girlfriends, further confirming Sally’s belief of her night with Brad. Sally makes a quick exit, leaving Martha and Alf wondering what’s wrong? Next day at school, Sally crosses with Brad, the awkwardness is immediate. Brad asks her what’s going on – but Sal is quick to dismiss it, deeply tormented. It’s not so much jealousy re Martha, more the fact that Emily only passed away three weeks ago… Sally heads to the Diner that afternoon to see Brad and Martha in quiet conversation together in a booth. She watches for a time, before Brad heads out, offering Sally a forced smile. She heads home to see Martha and makes a casual comment about Martha and Brad – she asks what Sally means and Sal explains she saw her leaving Brad’s place – it’s their life, but she thinks it’s a big mistake considering how recently Emily passed away. Martha quickly sets Sal straight – she got horribly drunk and sick last night, was too embarrassed to come home, so Brad took her to his apartment and looked after her – but nothing happened. Sal feels terrible and apologises, moving off quickly. Martha heads to see Brad and lets him know what Sally thought was going on, hence her odd behaviour toward him. He’s angry to hear it – as if he’d betray Emily like that! There’s nothing Sal can say to calm him and he accuses Sally of being jealous and thinks they should stay out of each other’s way from now on. Brad vents his frustrations to Rach, who can’t help but wonder how Brad really feels about Sal. Rachel knows him and what he’s thinking and she’s seen moments between them. He finally admits that he’s attracted to Sally, but he’s angry at himself for it. He just wants to stay away from her so he doesn’t have to face how he’s feeling, leaving a concerned Rachel in his wake.
Alf finds Sally upset as she explains the fight with Brad. He’s right – she was jealous – for the first time since Flynn died she’s had feelings for someone else, but it angers her to think she could betray Emily. Alf points out to Sally that Emily asked her to look after Brad for a reason – the bond you share was obvious to everyone. You can’t deny yourselves future happiness. Sal says it doesn’t matter anyway – Brad clearly doesn’t feel the same way, he wants to me stay right away from him… If only she knew…
Amanda’s lost in a reverie about Drew and the awful situation, when Belle appears, ready for school. Belle is dreading seeing Drew after their fight about his ‘other woman’. She gives her ‘Mum’ a kiss goodbye, leaving Amanda to slump, hating herself. Moments later Drew arrives – Amanda quickly pulls him inside and closes the door. He tries to kiss her, but Amanda wants to know what he’s doing here?! It’s too dangerous. He doesn’t understand why they can’t just be open about it – it’s not like they’re cheating on Belle – but Amanda insists that this must stay a secret. Drew arranges to meet with her later, then heads out, crossing with Macca, who knows something isn’t right. Amanda explains the situation with Drew and how much she hates herself for it – Macca understands her predicament, but thinks she’s digging a hole she might not be able to get out of… He then heads to Cassie’s – she’s also not looking forward to school, nervous about the reaction the kids are going to give her affair with Macca behind Ric’s back. Sally offers her support and Lucas gives her a small smile, but Belle is openly scathing and makes a big show of having a go at her in front of everyone. Drew then walks in, giving Belle more fuel. Lucas tries his hardest to shut Belle up and finally Dan appears and sends them all off the class.
At the Diner, Belle sees Drew paying and leaving – she decides to follow him to try and find out who his other woman is! Just as they are about to meet, Lucas appears beside Belle and tells her off for stalking Drew and manages to drag her away just before Belle sees her Mum and Drew embrace! Later that afternoon, Drew comes to Amanda’s house to clean the pool. Amanda lets him know that he can’t work there anymore. He reluctantly accepts, then moves in to kiss Amanda, she tries to resist but he’s intent on seducing her and succeeds. We later see Drew descend the stairs in his boxers, looking smug, when suddenly the front door opens and Belle walks in! Drew freezes as Belle demands to know what the hell’s going on?!
