Extended Summary
It’s judgment day for Robbie. Nerves abound as everyone prepares to head to the court for Robbie’s trial. As Morag leads the group out the door, Tasha and Robbie share a final moment together. Robbie reiterates how much he loves her – no matter what happens.
Robbie’s friends and family are nervously gathered as the prosecutor delivers his opening speech. They insist Robbie took the law into his own hands and thereby ended Graham’s life when he switched off his life-support. Morag defends Robbie’s decision, insisting that Graham was already brain dead and in an act of compassion, ended Graham’s suffering. As the trial continues, things take a down ward slide for poor Robbie. Morag braces herself for the challenge ahead and makes her final plea to the jury. With her closing statement complete – she takes a seat and the anxious wait begins – will Robbie be found guilty?
Meanwhile, Sally is in the Diner with Brad taking care of little Ella. Conversation soon turns to the new student enrolled at Summer Bay High, Rocco Cooper. Brad believes Rocco is a big risk considering he’s been expelled from every other school in the district. Sally defends her actions before storming out. Clearly, these two don’t see eye to eye and the tension is brewing.
The anxious wait is nearly over as the jury announce they have made their decision and file back into the court. Surrounded by his loved ones, Robbie braces himself as the verdict is read but much to their absolute horror – Robbie is found guilty! Back at the Beach House, everyone is trying to come to terms with the terrible outcome. Robbie tries to comfort Tasha who is cradling Ella in her arms. It’s a sad moment as reality hits – will they be torn apart forever?
There are tears and words of supports but it has been an agonizing wait for Robbie as he files back into the court for his sentencing. As the judge begins to recap the case, he touches on the fact that whilst the law has technically been broken, in this case, the law is flawed and Robbie allowed his grandfather to depart with dignity. Therefore, other then a fine for court costs Robbie is a free man! No-one can believe what they’ve heard and erupt into hugs and kisses – what a relief!
Back at the Beach House, everyone is exhilarated as they talk about the wonderful outcome. Tasha retreats to her bedroom where she pulls out the envelope she received last week. She looks at it thoughtfully and then removes what’s inside – two plane tickets. Robbie enters the room and spots Tasha with the tickets. Tasha explains Josie sent them the tickets before the trial, inviting them to live with her in America. Given all they’ve been through and the positive outcome, she’s thinking they might need a fresh start. Robbie curiously asks what she’s getting at and is utterly shocked when Tasha announces she wants to leave Summer Bay!!
