The Bay is shocked to learn of Peter and Amanda’s relationship. Devastated by his fathers betrayal, Drew lashes out. Cassie is hurt when she discovers Sally’s true feelings about Macca.
Extended Summary
Peter and Amanda have dropped the bombshell that they are having a relationship but Dan, Leah and Drew’s reactions aren’t quite what they’d hoped for. Peter chases after Drew as he races out the door, deeply hurt that his own father has betrayed him like this. Dan rips into Peter and is in disbelief he would go back to Amanda after the pain it caused the first time round. Dan sends his brother packing. Peter and Amanda leave but Dan is still fired up, insisting they should have put Drew’s best interests before their own selfishness. Peter and Amanda return to her house, still in shock following the extreme reaction. Things couldn’t have gone worse!
Hours tick by and Peter heads back to Leah and Dan’s but is concerned to discover there is still no sign of Drew. Leah intervenes as the two brothers rile up at each other again but Peter insists they should put that aside to go and look for Drew. The tension is thick as the two of them drive along on the look out. Peter attempts to break the ice but Dan insists he should just keep his mouth shut. Back at home, Amanda is pouring her heart out to Leah, thinking she will lend a sympathetic ear. But Leah won’t have a bar of it and insists that if Amanda really loved Peter she wouldn’t come between him and Drew. Amanda is left with food for thought. Their silence is broken by the return of Dan and Peter with the bad news there’s still no sign of Drew. Unbeknownst to him, Drew is curled up on the bus stop – ready to spend the night alone as he stews over his father’s betrayal.
Cassie is on the beach, deep in thought as she tries to process Macca’s suggestion they move to the city. Macca doesn’t want to add pressure but assures her they would have more time together, more money and the opportunity to make a fresh start. Macca gives her a kiss and heads off, leaving Cassie to make one very big decision. Sally is at home making final preparations for the school dance. Cassie arrives to help and after some hesitation, explains Macca’s job offer and his request to leave the Bay. Sally remains quiet and secretly concerned until Cassie asks her directly what she should do. Sally bluntly responds ‘no’ but clarifies by insisting she will not let Cassie go. Cassie takes in Sally’s strong reactions with shock. Cassie can’t believe that Sally is still opposing her relationship with Macca and feels betrayed that Sally has been lying to her all this time. Sally insists she will not allow it and that’s all there is to it. Cassie storms out of the house, leaving Sally frustrated that went so badly.
Still full of steam, Cassie finds Macca and is adamant she’s made her mind up and she definitely wants to move to the city. Macca is surprised when Cassie informs him of the fact Sally still doesn’t trust him, although he doesn’t want Cassie to base her decision on Sally’s negative reaction. Cassie insists there’s nothing keeping her in the Bay anymore. Later, Macca arrives at the Summer Bay House to talk to Sally. At first her response is cold but Macca insists if she keeps up the attitude then she may lose Cassie for good. He moves off, leaving Sally with food for thought. Cassie is on the beach staring out to sea, deep in thought when Sally approaches. Eventually, the two women open up and Sally admits she should have been more supportive. She insists that whilst she doesn’t agree with Cassie’s decision she will be there for her no matter what. Cassie appreciates the gesture and the two embrace.
Macca heads over to Amanda’s house and is curious as to why she is are so edgy. Amanda explains the situation that occurred the night before and how they can’t find Drew. It’s music to Peter’s ears when Macca tells them he just drove past Drew at the bus shelter. Peter is straight in the car and pulls up when he spots Drew walking along the road. A screaming match ensues and in a fit of rage, Drew shoves Peter out of the way. Drew tries to walk away but Peter grabs again. But this time, Drew takes a swing and king hits Peter, knocking him to the ground. Drew waits for him to get up but Peter remains dead still on the ground, knocked out cold. Drew moves a little closer and is alarmed to see blood trickling from Peter’s ear. Uh-oh – what has he done?
