Extended Summary
It’s a perfect day for a wedding as the sun beats down on the flower filled church. Alf and Tony hand out the order of service to guests as Brad tells Alf that Kim is at the jewellers getting replacement wedding rings. Alf is concerned – that place is an hour away – Brad says it’s not a problem, he’ll be here. Meanwhile, Kim is stressing as he stands by his broken down car – he grabs his stuff and heads off on foot. Back at the house, Rachel has pre-wedding jitters as Leah and Sally try and calm her down – Beth lays out her dress – time to get ready – and Irene holds baby Joe. Kim is trudging along when a big bikie pulls over and offers him a ride – Kim hops on and they roar off down the road! At the church, Tony, Alf and Brad continue to seat the guests – Jack can’t get through to Kim – where is he?! Brad heads to the girls place to try and stall them so they don’t realize Kim is missing in action as Rachel emerges in her dress looking fantastic. Brad enters with a cover story about the priest running late – so they should hang out at the house a little longer… tick tick tick. On the open road the bikie pulls over – this is as far as he can take Kim, he has a chicks and tatts show to get to further on – will he make it to the church on time?!
Brad fills Sally in on Kim not being there and the stripper stealing the wedding rings – the girls can’t believe it! The Bowls Ladies are driving along and kindly pick up Kim – they drive as fast as they can. Meanwhile, Rachel knows something is up – Brad covers again saying Alf just called and he’s there – we can go to the church now. Brad knows he’s bought as much time as he can without letting her know Kim is still missing… The Bowls car gets a flat tyre – what next?! At the church all are gathered as Jack, Irene, Beth and Brad are deciding what else they can do to delay – Alf and Dan call, they’ve found Kim’s car broken down, but no sign of him! Kim finds that the spare tyre on Cess’ car is flat as well – he thanks them, and continues on foot – shirtless… Rachel, Sally and Leah are in the back of the limo – the bride full of nervous anticipation – the driver does a few laps to help delay – but when she finally gets out of the car and sees everyone standing outside of the church, she knows something is up – she looks to Brad – what’s going on? He has no choice but to tell his sister what’s going on…
Meanwhile, Kim is running as fast as he can along the road, praying for a car, without a flat, to give him a ride. Then up ahead, he sees a saddled horse. Thinking quickly, he jumps on and rides off – the owner emerging from the shed and yelling for him to stop! Kim apologises – it’s an emergency! Having just broken the news to Rachel, she begins to panic and paces around as the boys offer to go for another drive to find him. The Priest soon has to leave, apologizing – he has another booking to get to. Rachel is close to tears – when suddenly in the distance she sees Kim, shirtless, galloping along on the horse! He dismounts and Rachel runs to embrace him – everyone cheers – let’s get this wedding started! All are in awe as the beautiful bridesmaids, Sally and Leah, walk down the aisle – then Rachel follows, looking magnificent. Kim is glowing with pride and as she arrives she whispers that she’s glad he could make it. The Priest marries the happy couple, the audience applauds as Irene hands baby Joe to the newlyweds – a family together at last.
The couple arrive home after the reception to find the place romantically decked out with roses, champagne and soft music and a note from Brad wishing them a happy life together. Kim pops the bubbly as Rachel fusses over baby Joe. They cheers to their new family and the happiest day of their lives and share a soft kiss. As they become sentimental, there’s a knock at the door. Kim tells her to hold that thought as he moves to the door – it’s Lee, Joe’s Mum, with a regretful look on her face. No words need to be spoken. Kim and Rachel’s fear is immediate as they swap a look of dread…
