Extended Summary
Tony tries to console a devastated Jack, as he packs away photos & memories of Sam – it’s too painful having them around… Cassie arrives to see how calendar sales for the help line fundraising are going – Tony tells her they’ve sold out! Encouraged, she checks the Diner – they’re selling fast there as well, and Dan is pleased to let Cass know that he’s found two qualified counsellors who are happy to volunteer their time to take calls. It’s all looking good for the help line!
At Summer Bay House, Sally & Brad are working well as a team to run the family. The happy moment turns cold when Martha appears – she’s still fuming about Sally having told Brad about her abortion. Sal tries to ease the tension – it can’t keep on like this between them. Wanting to help, Brad tries to talk to Martha, apologising for the problems his big mouth have caused. Martha isn’t interested in talking about it, and before too long a full scale argument breaks out. Sally appears at the sounds of the disagreement – she lets Martha know she doesn’t feel as though she’s a part of her life anymore and if they’re all going to live together, they need to come to some kind of compromise. In the heat of the moment, Martha decides she’s had enough of all of this – she’s moving out! It’s not an empty threat – she packs her suitcase – she’s going to live in the Diner Apartment. Cam soon arrives to pick her up. He thinks she’s made the right choice for her self and her independence. Sal, on the other hand, is very upset by the way things have turned out…
Later at the Diner, Sally runs into Cam. He lets her know that Martha was feeling trapped living with the family, hence her decision. Feeling terrible, Sally fills Jack in on Martha’s move – he feels guilty that he hasn’t been there for Martha through all this, but he’s had his own dramas to contend with. Sally advises Jack to leave Martha be – but against her wishes, Jack heads to the apartment. They have a general talk about Sam’s leaving – then Jack sees Cam. She introduces them – but they’ve already met – when Jack gave him a parking ticket earlier that day. Jack just wants to know that Martha’s okay and Cam makes it clear that she is and that he’s taking care of her. Concerned, Jack heads off – Cam can’t believe he’s her ex-husband! What else hasn’t she told him about?
Martha remains tight lipped – not wanting to discuss Ash, the pregnancy or the abortion. To ease the tension, Cam suggests she throw a house warming. Deal. It isn’t long before the party is pumping, and Colleen is becoming increasingly agitated at the ‘guests’ traipsing through the Diner to get upstairs. Cam placates her with a big cash tip as Martha gets increasingly trashed, dancing seductively for Cam. Cindy comments on how good a dancer she is – Cam’s already clocked this fact – what plans does he have in store for our Martha?
That night, Jack is telling Sally about the chat he had with Martha and meeting her new man, Cam, when he gets a noise disturbance call. It’s Martha’s party. She drunkenly answers the door to Jack and Cam immediately turns the music down, and is protective of Martha, which erks Jack no end. As soon as he leaves, the music is pumped up again… Jack walks away, concerned about his ex-wife and where she’s heading… The following morning, Colleen & Leah enter the Diner to open for the day – only to find the place is totally trashed. No prizes for guessing who’s responsible…
