Extended Summary

Martha is pleased with how Cam & Alf’s first meeting went – Cam is still curious re Alf’s comment about her past and is keen to subtly find out more about what’s happened. She’s a little thrown, but covers – they’re just protective of me. She insists that’s it. But he knows she’s hiding something. Later that day, Martha heads to the Rocket Club to hear Cam arguing with a strung out young woman, Paige. She’s demanding money and accuses Cam of getting her hooked on junk. He heads inside, as Paige continues to bellow at him from outside. We see Cam stuffing cash into a sports bag and bags of white powder. He’s interrupted by a knock on the door – it’s Martha. He quickly zips and moves the bag, then opens the door. She clocks the sports bag and wonders who the girl screaming at him is? Cam explains he used to be her manager at another club. She got into drugs, bad crowd, starting stealing to feed her habit, stopped showing up at work, so I fired her. Paige continues to scream from the street outside, they move out to where she is – Cam tells Martha to call the cops. Jack and Fitzy are soon on the scene – Jack is worried – is this the kind of people Martha really wants to hang out with? That night, Martha is preparing for work, when Jack drops by with a friend. It’s Paige. Martha isn’t impressed, but Jack wants her to hear Paige out – Martha reluctantly agrees. Paige explains that she was too naïve to see the real Cam – her friends tried to warn her, but she didn’t listen and soon gave up on her. Cam just breezed into her life, offered her a job and tricked her into getting on stage to dance. He paid her rent, looked after her, made her feel special – then one day you wake up and you’re in over your head. Dancing’s just the start, the drugs will be another way to control you. That sports bag – that’s where he keeps his stash. Martha is thrown – is there truth in her story? Martha confronts Cam, he denies the lot – left alone, Martha is about to look in the sports bag – Cindy clocks her looking at it and interrupts. Martha moves out, giving Cindy enough time to deal with the ‘sports bag’. Martha returns to the bag later and is about to un zip it when Cam walks in. Martha asks to see what’s in it. Cam is defensive, but lets her look – to his relief it’s full of sports gear – thanks to Cindy….

At the hospital, Rachel calls in to see James – she wonders if he’d like to take a walk, it’s a lovely day? He’s not interested, not eating, not sleeping – he just wants to see Kit. Rachel gently lets him know he’ll have to give her some time. James swears he’ll never relapse, but Rachel again reminds him that Kit’s moving on, it’s what she needs to do. He just wants to apologise and wishes he could take it all back… Meanwhile, Kim’s visiting Kit, who’s finding the readjustment without James around a bit difficult. Kim can’t hide his contempt for James, as Rachel arrives. She wondered how Kit would feel about visiting James? He’s really down and she thinks if he has the chance to apologise to kit he might feel better, and it would be good closure for Kit as well. Kim thinks it’s a crazy idea – Kit doesn’t owe him a damn thing. Kim’s dubious, Kit’s torn and Rachel’s words may have just struck a chord. Kim reluctantly joins Kit at the hospital. Kit is lead through to James’ room as Rachel defends her decision to Kim – it will be constructive for both of them. She then stops in her tracks as Hugh turns the corner! He explains that he’s taken Dr Green’s position – he was up for the sea change, he loved being here last time. Kim is quick to let Hugh know that Leah is back with Dan – Hugh is also quick to let them know that a relationship is the last thing he needs. He’s just come out of one himself.

In the room, James explains how sorry he is for everything that happened. He knows what he did was stupid – she’s all he’s thought about since he’s been in hospital and he’s so pleased to see her. Kit is tentative as James explains he’s going to get better – and he wants to see her again soon – he’ll leave it up to Kit as to when that will be. Kit hesitates, should she tell him that it isn’t likely to happen? She doesn’t have the heart right not and heads out, leaving James with the false impression that there may be hope for them after all… Rachel talks to Kit – she’s worried that James thinks they still have a chance – Kit feared this might happen. She’ll go and talk to him again, and this time be up front.

Nervously, she heads to James’ room and explains her stance – she can’t see him again. Her priority is her baby. James pleads, but Kit makes it clear. They’re not getting back together again. Ever. Kit walks out, leaving him absolutely devastated. Kit tells Rachel about their conversation and asks about the next treatment stages for him. As Rachel is about to explain, Nurse Gloria informs them that James isn’t in his room – it’s been cleaned out – he’s done a runner!
