Jack jeopardises his career in a bid to save Martha. Stranded in the bush, it’s up to Kim to help Kit with the birth of their baby – but their bliss is soon shattered by an unthinkable tragedy.

Kit braces herself as her contractions begin to grow stronger. Kim is on the phone to Rachel, who insists he needs to get her to the hospital straight away – she’s having the baby! Matilda has awoken to the commotion and races off to deliver the news to Tony, who’s out having a surf.
Kim and Kit are in the car speeding along Yabbie Creek Rd when they are met with a traffic jam due to a car accident. Kim insists he knows a short cut along a bush track. The road becomes bumpy and poor Kit struggles as her contractions become more intense and she is overwhelmed with a migraine. Suddenly, they hit a log and the car comes to an abrupt halt. Kit’s distress grows as Kim desperately tries to fix the car. Kit grabs Kim’s arm telling him there’s no time – the baby’s coming! Kim lays a blanket down on the ground for Kit and encourages her as she begins to deliver the baby. With one last push, Kit gives birth to a beautiful baby boy. Kim is overjoyed as he cradles his son in his arms but when he turns to show Kit, she begins to have a seizure and starts convulsing uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Tony and Alf are becoming increasingly alarmed that Kit and Kim have not yet arrived at the hospital. They begin their search and track them down just in time. Kim rushes into the hospital carrying an unconscious Kit in his arms, closely followed by Alf who is cradling the baby. Both Kit and the baby are whisked away for urgent attention. The long wait for news begins…and eventually Hugh arrives to let them all know Kit and baby are doing just fine! Everyone wishes Beth had made it home in time to see the birth of her grandchild and suddenly Tony races off to see if Beth has arrived home yet.
Jack is getting the third degree from McGrath, who is struggling to make sense of how the drugs seized at the Rocket Club could have gone missing. He pointedly implies Jack’s job is on the line if he finds out Jack had anything to do with tampering with evidence. Martha and Cam arrive and are surprised to hear Martha’s charges have been dropped. McGrath explains the evidence has gone missing and Cam is quick to suggest Jack was behind it all. Later, McGrath insists Jack need to go with him to the site of a car accident and by the look on his face…Jack knows this isn’t good…
Tony is driving along to meet Beth when he is stopped in a traffic jam. He pulls over and is surprised to see Jack and McGrath up ahead. His heart sinks as Jack approaches, looking grim. Tony moves towards the accident and a terrible, ominous feeling washes over him. Jack tries to stop Tony getting closer as he watches a body covered in a sheet being wheeled towards the ambulance and realises it’s Beth. Jack holds Tony back as he collapses unable to believe Beth has been killed.
