Summer Bay is in mourning in the wake of their loss. Tony confronts the person responsible. Cam uses Martha as financial leverage for his club.
Extended Summary
There’s fun and laughter as everyone gathers in Kit’s room to celebrate the birth of her baby. Still in shock, Tony moves inside and breaks the devastating news. Kit sits shell-shocked holding her baby as Matilda breaks down in heart-wrenching sobs. Kit then goes into over-drive and begins gathering up her things to leave. Despite everyone’s protests, Kit checks herself out of hospital to begin the heartbreaking task of organising Beth’s funeral.
Back at home, Kit is refusing to sit still, until Matilda finally cracks and tells Kit to start dealing with the fact Beth’s dead. Tony intervenes and stops the argument before storming out of the house, overwhelmed. Tony heads to the hospital, where he finds himself in the room of the truck driver responsible for the accident. Overcome with anger, Tony begins to yell at the man, accusing him of tearing his family apart. The driver cowers in fear but Tony retreats and stumbles towards the door, just as Rachel is on her way in. Tony returns home – the girls have organised for the funeral to be held in Adelaide where Beth will be buried beside her mother. Tony confides in Jack he almost attacked the driver. Jack comforts his father and hands him a bag of things from the accident. Jack moves off, as Tony starts going through Beth’s belongings. He pulls out her wallet and inside is a picture of him and Beth together in happy times. It’s all too much for poor Tony, as he breaks down in tears, aching for his loss.
Cam is in the middle of financial business dealings with Lou, a sleazy and wealthy man Cam hopes will bail him out of his money troubles. Lou makes it clear he wants to spend time with Martha. Cam assures him he will.
Later, Martha arrives at the Club and Cam rips into her – where has she been? Cam is stressing her no-show will cost him his deal with Lou. Martha bites back insisting she had a family tragedy and she did call Amy to pass the message on (Amy conveniently forgot) and Cam is left doing serious back-pedaling. Once Martha is out of sight, Cam tells Cindy he really needs Martha to secure the deal because Lou likes to be ‘entertained’. What has Cam got in mind for Martha?
