Extended Summary
Now that Alex has his hands on the drugs that arrived in the country via Leah’s suitcase he thinks his life is looking up. That is until the buyer he had lined up pulls out of the deal. An old acquaintance Rob turns up unexpectedly and buys some of the drugs but his visit to the caravan Park doesn’t go unnoticed when Brad clocks him and Alex haggling. Brad isn’t sure what Alex is up to but he’s pretty sure it’s shady. His suspicions are further raised when he finds a packet of diazepam in Alex’s bed linen. It’s Brad, who the next day, comes across Rob breaking in to Alex’s van and wrestles with him, but Rob escapes. Alex is less than grateful for Brad’s intervention, his sole concern being that the drugs might have been stolen. They haven’t but Alex now needs a safer place to hide them. He chooses Leah’s house and stashes them up the chimney.
Rachel and Kim have their first appointment at the Fertility Clinic and Kim finds it very clinical and alienating. He wants to have the baby with Rachel but not by this method. He canvasses obtaining the donor sperm from someone that he and Rachel both know and trust, and eventually asks Hugh if he’d be interested. He refuses and is furious with Rachel for being put in that position. Rachel apologises profusely. She would never have asked him and she’s sorry Kim did, but Hugh floors her when he suggests that she clearly subconsciously wants to have his baby. The whole sorry saga comes to a head when Rachel asks Kim to tell her honestly if he really wants the baby or not. At the moment Kim doesn’t.
Brad is still waiting to hear from the Department if he’ll be getting his job back as School Principal. He’s filling in his spare time doing odd jobs around the Bay. Colleen, feeling bad for having been partly responsible for Brad being suspended, decides to write an apology in her latest newspaper column. While the apology is well received and appreciated, it does nothing to help Brad get re-instated.
