Extended Summary
Concerned that thirteen year old Annie is not receiving a proper education, Sally pays Bruce a visit. He’s defensive and doesn’t think it’s any of her business. When Annie cuts herself, Sally thinks it should be looked at by a professional, but Bruce is hesitant. Sally insists and they eventually rush her to the hospital.
While Annie is being treated, Sally resumes her discussion with Bruce about her schooling. Bruce tries to shut down the argument by claiming Annie is home-schooled, but Annie’ later admits to Sally that this is a lie. Sally shares her concerns about Annie with Brad, who then informs the Department of Education about the situation – against Sally’s wishes!
Ric suggests to Mattie and Luc that they go swimming at a nearby cavern. However, to get there they need to use Tony’s dinghy. Against his better judgment, Luc agrees to let them use it. But when the dinghy unexpectedly sinks, Luc is left in a panic over how Tony will react. Luc, Ric and Mattie decide to keep quiet about the incident and let Tony believe the dinghy was stolen. The only other person who knows the truth is Geoff. Will he keep their secret?
Rachel is struggling to decide what to do in the face of Hugh’s ultimatum – unless she leaves Kim, Hugh will leave the Bay forever. Desperate for Hugh to stay, she finally admits her true feelings to him – she’s in love with him! Meanwhile, Kim is in a similar position with Kit, who has brought forward her plans to leave in the wake of Archie’s health scare.
