Extended Summary
Kit had her plans in place – she’s taking baby Archie and moving to the city, desperately hoping that if she stays away from Kim then she can somehow fall out of love with him. But that plan’s blown out of the water when she shares a passionate kiss with him. Only problem now is that he seems to be avoiding her, and she has no idea what to do. Should she move to the city as planned, or stay in the Bay in the hope that they really do have a future together?
A devastated Rachel is also facing a difficult question – did she do the right thing in letting Hugh walk out of her life? Caught between her love for two men, she focuses on her loyalty to Kim – but her guilt at sleeping with Hugh is torturing her. Kim can see she’s stressed and in turn is guilty that if she knew the truth about his feelings for Kit – feelings that he isn’t fully ready to acknowledge – she’d be shattered. Realising that he can’t leave Kit hanging, he begs her to give him another few days to make a decision about their future. Kit is exhausted and disappointed that he is still vacillating and she delivers him an ultimatum: she needs a decision by week’s end, and in the meantime he can’t see her or Archie. What will Kim decide?
Cassie is also asking herself a difficult question – should she trust Jules again? But there’s something about this guy that gets under skin, and she asks if he’d like to go out on a date for her eighteenth birthday tomorrow. Jules is rapt – and he’s also forced to reveal that Mattie and Ric are planning a surprise party!
Little does Jules know that he’s about to be backed into a corner. Jazz is frustrated that Drew is avoiding her, and she’s convinced that Jules is only making the situation worse. She pays Jules a visit in his van and makes it clear that if he doesn’t leave town – immediately – she will have to reveal their ‘secret’ to Drew. Jules tries to bargain with her – he can’t leave the Bay when things are finally starting to work out with Cassie. But Jazz has no sympathy, leaving us wondering just what this secret is that she holds over him.
The mystery only deepens when Irene tells Drew it’s time for him to move back home and face up to his mum. Instead, Drew turns up at Jules’s van asking to crash the night. And he’s shocked and angry when Jules turns him away. It’s only when Drew leaves that Jazz steps out of hiding and makes it clear that she’ll stop at nothing to force Jules into ending his friendship with Drew. What is the dark history between these two?
