Cassie decides to take on Fisher. Bruce’s act of revenge ends in tragedy. Annie finally loses it with Aden.
Extended Summary
Lucas comforts Annie in the wake of discovering the poisoned sheep, while Bruce pressures the police to find the culprit. Despite his lack of evidence, Bruce is convinced his neighbours or Aden committed the crime – and he wants justice.
When Annie is hassled by Aden, she takes the opportunity to find out if he was the one who poisoned the sheep. Instead of giving her a straight answer, he cruelly taunts her. Riled, Annie attacks him and a struggle ensues. Fisher’s attempts to break up the fight are completely ineffective, and Brad has to intervene. In an effort to reassert his authority, Fisher suggests a strong punishment for Annie. Brad, however, urges a more lenient response, given her family situation. Although not wanting to disrespect Fisher, Sally chooses the more lenient path.
Fisher’s frustration is compounded by altercations with Aden and Cassie. Finally, Fisher loses his temper with Brad – accusing him of undermining his authority. Reeling after the outburst, Brad tells Sally he’s worried Fisher isn’t coping. Sally urges patience, and thinks Brad should be more sympathetic. Just when Fisher is about to dine alone Brad sits down apologises and manages to placate him.
Meanwhile, Bruce has told Geoff to take Annie to the Diner for the afternoon, so as to help ease her anguish over the sheep. The act of kindness is very out of character for the farmer, and both Geoff and Annie are suspicious of his real intentions. Once alone on the farm, we discover Bruce plans on dealing with the sheep slaughters in his own way. But after loading his shot gun, Bruce is overcome with a wave of immense pain in his chest. He searches for his heart pills, unaware that they have rolled under the side board…
Later that night, Sally arrives at the farm to discuss Annie’s truancy with Bruce. She’s shocked to discover Bruce lying unconscious on the floor. Will Bruce survive?
