Extended Summary

Drew and Ric have been working on Drew’s car, the Beast – and Drew plans on ordering more spare parts from Dom. Ric’s a little suss on Dom, warning Drew not to trust him. Ric’s words weigh on Drew’s mind the next morning when he sees Dom swapping cash for parts with a mechanic – there’s something suss about the exchange, but Dom assures the guys that all his deals are upfront. He also makes it clear that if Drew asks difficult questions, he won’t be getting any more cheap parts. He’s gambling on this keeping Drew quiet, figuring that Drew will do anything to keep his car on the road. It turns out that Drew and Ric’s boss, Ray, is also counting on this – given the fact he’s in deep on the hot-parts racket with Dom.

But Ray comes through when he offers Drew an apprenticeship. Drew’s stoked, as is Ric – and Belle, who’s relieved to have something positive to focus on while she and Matilda cram for the upcoming HSC trials. They’re both stressed, but Mattie’s taking it particularly hard, admitting to Ric that she’s lost focus on her study since her mum died – not to mention the fact that sharing with Martha makes finding quiet time to study hard to come by. She’s totally confident about passing Maths, but has a bad feeling she could fail Chemistry, and Ric offers to help her the next day – a day that doesn’t start well when Martha spills coffee all over Mattie’s study notes. And the fact Ric stands her up doesn’t make it any better.

Tony’s got his own relationship problems to deal with – he’s had a couple of dates with Jazz, and he’s not sure where it’s going. But Belle and Drew have a better idea on this count when they spring Jazz sharing an intimate moment with Dane, a business associate. Drew confronts his mother, making it clear that he doesn’t want her two-timing Tony. Realising how important this is to her son – and wanting to strengthen the bond between them – Jazz agrees to go on another date with Tony, meeting him on the waters edge for a nice picnic that Tony has put together. He has created a romantic setting so Jazz sets him straight – she’s not looking for a serious relationship. But if he wants to have fun – that’s fine by her. To her relief, Tony admits he feels the same way. Sharing a grin, they are happy to have set the ground rules on their relationship.

Brad is busy organising everything for the wedding – from the invitations to the marquee hire. And he can’t help noticing that Sally seems a little unsure about whether they’re rushing things. But when he calls her on it, Sally hides her true concern, convincing herself that she just needs a little more time to get used to the idea of committing to another man after Flynn. And the fact Brad’s so pumped about the wedding only makes it harder for her to admit how she really feels…

Meanwhile, Dom has invited Drew and Ric along to a drag race. Ric tells Drew he’s an idiot for even thinking about going – the cops are going to be crawling all over it. But Drew’s pumped for it and a reluctant Ric goes out to the venue with him. A decision he’s going to regret – big time – when the cops show. Drew and Ric try to escape, but it’s too late – they’re busted!
