Extended Summary
Bruce has caught Lucas breaking Annie out of her room and at gunpoint he locks Lucas and Annie up together. Geoff, waiting for Lucas to bring Annie back to the Holden House, becomes increasingly concerned when they don’t show up, and searches out Tony and informs him of what’s happened. Geoff had been around to see his Pop earlier in the day and they argued again – Geoff feels Pop’s not very stable at the moment. A worried Tony drives out to the farm with Geoff to make sure Lucas and Annie are okay. When they arrive, Bruce shoots at them. While it seems neither Tony nor Geoff are hit – Geoff takes off and Tony’s not sure that he’s okay. Inside the house the sound of gunshots spooks Lucas and Annie, and Lucas is even more concerned when he looks out the window and sees that Bruce is firing at Tony. Bruce has clearly “lost it” big time, but there’s not too much Lucas can do about it.
Geoff, not wanting to put Tony in danger, takes it upon himself to rescue Annie and Lucas. He gets through a window and opens the door of the room they are locked in and assists them out. He then waits for his Pop. Bruce duly turns up and Geoff confronts him with his own shotgun. Geoff and Bruce have a heart-to-heart talk and Geoff informs Bruce that he won’t let Annie stay with him anymore. He’s taking her with him. Bruce challenges Geoff to shoot him, and it looks like he very well might until the timely intervention of Tony.
Tony eventually takes Geoff and Annie back to his place and Lucas, having had a first hand insight into how they have been living, has the first hint of a reconciliation with Geoff. Lucas is happy to have him stay with him. Despite everything, Annie and Geoff still can’t help worrying about Bruce.
Tony has a bright idea on how to integrate Jazz with everyone in the Bay, and reconcile her with Dan and Leah who she hasn’t been on good terms with. He convinces Jazz to invite them, and Sally and Brad, around for drinks and nibbles. The invitations are reluctantly offered and reluctantly accepted, and the evening starts badly when Geoff calls Tony away just prior to the guests arriving. The conversation is stilted and forced when they do finally get there, but Jazz is sure that everything will be easier when Belle and Drew arrive. Belle’s late, as she’s been working, and then proceeds to argue loudly with Drew when she finally does arrive. It’s all too much for the other guests who take their leave – the whole event is a disaster from Jazz’s point-of-view.
Drew rashly agreed to a drag race with Denni some days ago, but when he finds out that Lisa has set it all up so that her new boyfriend can humiliate Drew, just as Drew did to Lisa when he dumped her, Drew decides to pull out of the race. It’s Dom who informs Drew that it’s not that simple. Denni is one bad dude and he doesn’t take no for an answer. The race time is set, but will Drew turn up and race?
