Extended Summary
Henk is reeling after his moment of weakness with Cassie and makes it clear to her that it can’t happen again. Once back at the apartment, Henk is his usual nice and easy going person towards Martha although his intentions are perfectly innocent, Martha reads more into it and finds herself falling for him.
Rachel steps in to try to warn Martha off. But since Martha is unaware of Henk’s dark secret, she dismisses Rachel’s warning as nothing more than jealousy. Henk soon learns of Martha’s interest and is quick to nip it in the bud. Martha is left thinking Henk isn’t interested in seeing anyone at the moment.
Meanwhile, Annie is finding it hard to adapt to life under Tony’s roof. She seems particularly prickly today, but is refusing to open up to Tony or Geoff. When she later lies her way out of school, Irene takes her aside and discovers the source of her angst. Despite Irene’s warm support, Annie is overcome with confusion and shame and runs away.
Later, at the Holden household just as Irene and Geoff are about to leave the police arrive with Annie… She has been caught shoplifting.
