Extended Summary
Jack has picked up on the fact that Martha seems uneasy about his engagement to Sam. He calls her on it, and she’s forced to admit that she’s been keeping a secret: when she thought that he was on the boat and lost at sea in the storm, she tore up the divorce papers. Jack’s not sure he’s hearing right: “You mean we’re not divorced…?” Martha nods, and his heart sinks. How is he going to explain this to Sam?
Martha’s not the only one who’s been harbouring a secret. Sally is still deeply uneasy about the wedding, but she can’t bring herself to admit her doubts – which leave her feeling deeply uncomfortable when her dearest friends join her to celebrate at the hen party. And when her present – a mirror – is shattered, Sally can’t help feeling rattled.
Meanwhile, Jack confronts Martha, demanding answers: why did she tear up the divorce papers? Martha’s forced to admit that she never wanted the divorce – because she’s still in love with him. Jack’s stunned by this admission and Martha tentatively asks if he still has any feelings for her. Jack hesitates, clearly confused. But eventually he shakes his head, telling Martha that it doesn’t matter what he feels: “I’m with Sam now – that’s all that matters.”
Shaken, Jack returns to Brad’s bucks party, which is in full swing. But when Henk injures his hand, the guys insist on having Rachel treat him. Rachel’s got no choice but to hide her agitation at being this close to Henk – and it’s clear that she’s struggling to maintain her composure. She also can’t help noticing what looks like a moment of intimacy between Henk and Cassie. She manages to convince herself that she’s imagining it – but when she walks Martha home, they make a shocking discovery: Cassie and Henk are in his bedroom in a state of undress. Rachel stares at Henk, horrified…
