Tam and her best friend “trouble” move in with Brad. Geoff is set to bring an unlikely guest to bible class. Ric joins Cassie in trying to help Sally get back on her feet.
Extended Summary
Sally has a cold and is having difficulty coping with all her responsibilities. At Brad’s behest Cassie has come home for a few days to help her, and Ric returns too, having completed his TAFE exams. Both Ric and Cassie make separate unsuccessful attempts to get Brad to consider returning home, but Brad has a different agenda. Cassie and Ric join Alf in trying to get the caravan park in shape for the school holiday influx, and nurse Sally back to health. Neither Cassie nor Ric had realized how overloaded Sally had become, and how much work had to be done. It’s Ric who pressures Cassie into staying until after her HSC exams. Sally is delighted with the news. Now, with the exception of Brad, her family is back together.
Tam has never met a young guy like Geoff. He’s handsome, well mannered, and after his part in rescuing Martha from the mine – a hero too. Tam sets her sights on him. When Geoff tells her that one of his few regular social outings is going to bible class she’s even more interested in him. Tam gets Geoff to agree to let her accompany him to a class. Geoff who has never had a girlfriend isn’t quite sure what to make of Tam. He seeks advice and learns that perhaps Tam is more interested in him, than in studying the gospels. So when the bible class draws near Geoff “dresses up” and even applies an over supply of aftershave in order to impress Tam. However Tam doesn’t show up for bible class and Geoff’s devastated – he’s sure that Tam was only making fun of him.
Rachel tracks Tam down. She’s furious that Tam took off with her purse and when Tam isn’t the slightest bit remorseful Rachel has had enough. It’s been a huge strain working late shifts at the hospital and trying to keep tabs on her. Rachel calls Brad, it’s time he shared some of the responsibility. Brad, still living in a motel room, isn’t keen that Tam should join him there, but Rachel is adamant. Brad reluctantly moves Tam in with him. He wants her to stay in for the evening but Tam has other ideas. They fight, and a part of it is witnessed by an elderly motel guest who becomes concerned for Tam’s safety. This is a busy time for Brad who is desperate to get away from the painful memories associated with Summer Bay High and he’s trying for a job at the Catholic college in Yabbie Creek. Brad’s much publicized problems with Naomi make it hard work to get an even break from the school board, but Brad enlists the help of the school principal “Pat O’Connor”.
He convinces the board that Brad is the right person for the job and that he at least deserves to be interviewed. Brad feels confident of getting the gig. Tam, however, meets the elderly motel guest who was concerned about her welfare and feeds her a pack of lies. Tam suggests that Brad is her boyfriend, and used to be her teacher, and that he’s holding her against her wishes. The police arrive to act on a complaint from the concerned motel guest just as the Principal is giving Brad details of his job interview. Sensing that Brad is involved in another scandal the Principal advises Brad that there’ll be no job for him at the Catholic school.
