Extended Summary
With the HSC only weeks way, Ric decides to spoil Mattie by buying her a motor scooter. However, his plans go astray when he inadvertently discovers she is considering leaving the Bay next year for uni. Ric stresses over what this means for their relationship, but Mattie makes it clear her plans definitely include him. They agree that if she gets accepted into a university in the city, they will move there next year.
Meanwhile, Martha is confused and unnerved by her provocative dreams about Jonah. Seeking distraction, she agrees to a date with a newcomer to the Bay – Lewis Rigg. Realising she’s agreed for all the wrong reasons, she has coffee with him but he can see that there is a lot of trouble in Martha’s mind at the moment. Later, Martha’s unease over Jonah turns to panic when she realises he’s been following her. She later discovers that he was merely trying to return her wallet. The pair shares a laugh over the incident and in the process clear some of the bad air between them. Although they refuse to admit it, there’s a growing attraction between them.
At a local pub, George and Jack have stumbled across some illegal gambling activity. However, instead of busting the perpetrators, George pulls up a chair and joins in. This confirms to Jack that George is a crooked cop. However, since George knows Jack is responsible for evidence going missing at the police station, Jack is left powerless to act against the crook.
