Extended Summary
Having been rescued by Tony, Jazz has escaped the fire with only superficial injuries. She’s incredibly grateful, but wonders why he came over to the house last night in the first place. She hopes he’s changed his mind and wants to continue their casual relationship, but Tony admits he actually came over to end things for good. He wants more from a relationship than Jazz is willing to give.
With the house a complete write-off, the police now suspect foul play. Drew and Belle are mortified by the results of their prank, and worried about what will happen to them if they’re sprung. Drew’s guilt is compounded when Jazz apologises for being such a bad mother. When the insurance company refuses to pay up, Drew finally cracks. He comes clean about the prank and uses his inheritance money to compensate Amanda for the damage to the house. Acutely aware of the toxic effect Jazz has on his life, Drew offers her the remainder of the money if she agrees to leave him in peace. Finally realising their rift is irreparable, Jazz takes the money and leaves the Bay for good.
Meanwhile, Matilda tells Ric she’s received a letter of interest from a university in Perth. Although he agreed to move away with her, he never expected to go that far from the Bay. But before they can resolve the issue, they’re distracted by Tam. Although her bad behaviour is getting on everyone’s nerves at Summer Bay House, Sally has been keeping this from Brad. True to form, Colleen eventually spills the beans about Tam’s exploits and so Brad hauls the teen over the coals. Feeling hard done by and totally unwanted, Tam takes off on Mattie’s motor scooter, leaving everyone shocked and worried.
