Jack makes his decision. Is it goodbye for Martha? Meanwhile, will Matilda learn the truth about Ric?
Extended Summary
Upon learning that Michael’s sold the farm, and still reeling from her Kiss with Jack, Martha suggests that they simply pull up anchor and go, find a new place to live together. After being given Sam’s ultimatum and kissing Martha, Jack’s on edge, and taking it out on the people around him. He confesses to Tony, who thinks going back to Martha would be a huge mistake. But Jack’s not to be deterred. He asks Martha if she wants to be with him, and they agree to meet at Stewart’s point that afternoon when she’s had time to make up her mind.
When Rory finds out about his mother explaining her ultimatum to Jack, he decided to do whatever it takes to make Jack come to the rehearsal. Nervous about his meeting with Martha, Jack’s taken by surprise when Rory’s marched in, having thrown a rock through a car window. Rory points out that it’s okay, Jack can drive him straight to the rehearsal as soon as he’s been processed, and Jack realises what’s going on. Martha is nervous as well and Jack is delayed, Tony gets to her first, and when Jack finally arrives, Martha’s answer is clear, spelled out in her absence.
Jack is hurt by the rejection, but finally his decision is clear, and Sam couldn’t be more relieved when he walks into the rehearsal. Little does he know how close he came to a very different future, but Martha does, and now she’s made the decision, she’s more eager than ever to get away from Jack, and Michael agrees.
Things are finally working again between Ric and Matilda, but Cassie knows that Ric slept with Viv, and Matilda can’t help but notice her friend’s uneasiness. Cassie can’t stand lying to her friend, but Ric insists that telling Matilda will only hurt her. He made a mistake, it won’t happen again, there’s no need for Matilda to know. Unfortunately he hasn’t had that conversation with Viv, and when Matilda bumps into her at the beach side, Viv lets the cat out of the bag.
