Extended Summary
Miles admits he feels an empathy with Sally too, and hints he might know why, but isn’t quite ready to go into it yet. He opens up to her about some of his past, which clearly evokes some emotions for him. Sally realizes she’s pushed things too far and retreats, but is left feeling a step closer. At the diner, Roman is stopped in his tracks at seeing Miles all cleaned up. Roman swears he knows him from somewhere… and realizes he met him in Phuket. It quickly brings up raw memories for Miles, who doesn’t want to talk about it.
Roman assures him that his secret is safe, but Miles is left troubled that somebody knows about his past. Not wanting Sally to find out from someone else, Miles tells her that he lost his wife and daughter in the Boxing Day tsunami. After that he lost his way in life and has been walking every since. Sally is touched that Miles has opened up to her and reassures him that she’s there for him. It’s the encouragement Miles needs and he finally tells her his full name is Miles Copeland – but the best she could say is ‘Milco’. Sally is completely bewildered. What is he talking about?
Still reeling with Cassie’s news, Ric, Matilda, Belle and Drew discuss what a big shock this all is. Matilda still feels Sally should know, but Ric stands firm and believes what they need to do is find Henk. Matilda hints that Ric isn’t going to solve things with his hands. This only riles Ric up, and when Ric discovers that Henk has done a runner, his blood begins to boil. He goes to Matilda and slaps Henk’s ‘I can’t cope’ note in front of her.
Ric takes his frustrations out on Matilda, and an argument over Cassie and Henk, quickly develops into an argument over their own strained relationship. Once alone, Matilda breaks down, moving on from Ric is proving to be harder than she thought. She later talks with Ric about how hard they are finding it moving on from lovers to friends. They decide to focus their attention on Cassie and we see their bond of friendship is still strong despite the broken romance.
