Extended Summary
The community gathers for Dan’s memorial at the Surf Club. Jazz has her sights firmly set on Tony. But when she arrives in a rather seductive and inappropriate outfit, Amanda quickly puts her in her place.
Meanwhile, a group of students are huddled near the entrance. Realising there is no room for everyone in the Surf Club, they decide to form their own group on the beach to pay their respects to Dan. Gavin from Coastal News arrives with Belle – insisting he wants to capture the students’ point of view. Belle is torn between work and being there for Drew – but inevitably chooses work, much to Drew’s annoyance.
In the Surf Club, one by one, Dan’s family and friends speak of the wonderful man Dan was – and celebrate his life. Leah clutches VJ and Ryan in her arms – together they’ll get through it. Ric reaches out, taking Matilda’s hand – giving each other support.
On the beach, Aden leads the group in their memorial. He talks about Dan’s values and honesty – which is particularly pointed at Annie. Slowly the memorial comes to end but Bartlett arrives barking orders to the students to return to school. Egged on by Aden, the students defy his orders and begin pelting him with sand, forcing him to retreat up the beach. All the while, Belle and Gavin are busily capturing the moment on camera.
Matilda and Ric enter the gym, for a quiet moment together. Touching on what Leah said at Dan’s memorial – about telling the ones you love before it’s too late – Ric and Matilda confess their love for each other. They wrap each other in a big hug, reunited at last!
Back at Tony’s House, Matilda and Ric are embracing each other – blissful to be back together again. It seems nothing could ruin their newfound happiness…
…except for the unknown danger in Johnny lurking only metres away…
