Extended Summary
Sally, still recovering in hospital, receives a visit from Bartlett, who has come to tell her that, in her absence, he has been made acting principal. He lets her know that, in the wake of the sand throwing incident after Dan’s memorial, he plans to put the entire school on Saturday detention. Sally disagrees with his harsh methods, warning that it will only make things worse, but Bartlett won’t listen. As far as he’s concerned, Sally’s style of soft teaching is what led to such behaviour in the first place.
Matilda and Ric are in the throes of making up, both in heaven just to be together again. Matilda tells Ric she’ll be okay with anything Viv throws their way involving the baby, so long as they remain honest with each other. And at this point, Jack awkwardly interrupts their reconciliation. He leaves, but not before warning that he believes Johnny is still in town and that both Ric and Sally are still in danger. The couple pay little heed however, moving towards the bedroom, totally unaware that just next door Johnny has been listening in, and even now is preparing to attack.
As Sam’s struggle against Johnny continues, she finds herself with a terrible decision to make. After being given a single day to bring Sally to Johnny, she must decide whether she is really willing to protect herself at the expense of Sally’s life. But the decision is taken from her when she returns to a house in chaos. Johnny has tied up both Matilda and Jazz, who unwittingly walked into this nightmare, and Ric is, quite literally, fighting for his life. Sam is in terror, only hetting the courage at the last minute to save the day by clubbing Johnny over the head with a cricket bat.
Totally oblivious to the events taking place across town, Cassie is doing some tidying up when there’s a knock at the door, and nothing could have prepared her when she opens it to find Henk on the other side.
