Extended Summary

After a piece of plaster falls from the roof of the Diner, Roman and Irene realise they have a problem on their hands. As the building groans and cracks, it seems like it’s just getting worse and worse. Despite Roman’s realism, Irene tries to stay optimistic, but reality hits when a builder tells them they probably have major earth subsidence. – It doesn’t look good for the diner.

Having been forced from their decaying Diner Apartment home, Martha and Morag are taken in by Roman. Whilst taking a peek around Roman’s home, Martha is surprised enough to find a photo of Roman in an army uniform, but when she finds a photo of him with his arm around a gorgeous young girl she doesn’t know what to think. Who is the girl?

After a panicked first reaction to the news that Cassie is HIV positive, Alf come to terms with the tragedy. After a long talk on the beach, he and Cassie make their peace, and she is warmed by his heartfelt promise to be there for her no matter what. Later, when Cassie is helping out at the collapsing diner, some of the ceiling falls and cuts Cassie on the head, she freaks out; fearing that she’s putting others at risk of coming into contact with her blood. When Roman guesses what’s going on, Cassie is forced to tell him the truth. He points out that he wasn’t the only one to see her reaction and that eventually she won’t be able to keep her secret. After revealing everything to Irene and Colleen, Cassie frets that she’s losing control.

Ric can hardly believe it when he’s told that the garage will have to let him go because they’re struggling financially – but he doesn’t know the half of it. This is just the first step in Noel’s plan to force him to fight, and no amount of confidence in the world will get Ric another position until he does what Noel wants.
