Ric’s secret is out of the bag. What else does Noel have planned for Ric? Can Roman and Martha be over already?
Extended Summary
After everything they’ve been through, Martha and Jack are closer than they’ve been for some time, having fallen back into old dependence patterns. But when Roman approaches Martha about her feelings for Jack, she thinks he’s worrying too much. They’ve been through a lot together over the last few days, and they’ve supported each other, but there’s nothing going on between them. Roman’s still not convinced, and after much consideration, he does what he thinks is the right thing to do. He tells Martha he doesn’t want to take part in a messy love triangle; he’d rather step out of the picture and leave her to sort things out with her ex husband. But what does this mean for Martha and Jack?
Finally ready, Leah opens The Den, and is ecstatic at the reaction of the local kids. It looks like it’s going to be a huge success, and Dan would be proud.
Geoff’s at his wits end as Annie and Melody continue their campaign of ignoring him, and Belle’s getting fed up watching it. When she tells Annie to grow up and stop blaming Geoff for not liking Melody, something out of his control, it has little effect on her. But for Melody, there’s a ring of truth to the words, and eventually she too snaps at Annie. As far as she’s concerned, Annie’s lucky to have a brother like Geoff, and it’s not Annie’s problem to deal with anyway. She storms out, and Geoff follows. He’s sorry for letting things go out of control the way they did, and she forgives him. There might not be a relationship for the two, but at least there’s a friendship.
When Matilda discovers the large amount of cash in Ric’s wallet, Miles inadvertently lets slip Ric’s story about the casino. But when Matilda calls him on it, he slips up in the lie, and he’s left with no choice but to tell Matilda how he really got the money. She can hardly believe it. Not just that he would do something so crazy, but that, after everything, he would lie to her about it. Ric tries to excuse himself, he needed the money, and he didn’t want her to worry, but she’s not interested. If he lies to her again, they’re over for good. But Ric’s problems are far from over when one of Noel’s fighters ends up with a fractured Jaw and he’s left with just days to find a replacement for the Anzac Day fights. One name springs to mind, but this time Ric’s not keeping any secrets, and he and Matilda face Noel together.
