Matilda and Tony grieve for Beth one year since her passing. It appears Nicole’s plan to come between Melody and Geoff is working
Extended Summary
Rachel queries Tony’s emotional distance before it becomes clear that it was a year ago today that Beth died. Rachel feeling excluded, confronts Tony who then asks her to join him at Beth’s memorial site. Rachel just wishes that she didn’t have to approach him before being asked. There is concern that this soon to married couple aren’t as close as they should be.
Matilda, Ric, Tony, Rachel all sit at Beth’s memorial spot reminiscing on her life. Ric is feeling that he may in part have contributed to the depths of Matilda’s sorrow on this day. Tony, with Matilda at the forefront of his mind, is concerned that his intimacy with Rachel might upset Matilda.
Later in the day, after talking with Matilda, Tony is given new hope. Matilda assures Tony it’s time to move on and she gives him and Rachel her blessing. This seems to be just what Tony needed to propel him into action, find Rachel and set the wedding date. Rachel is thrilled.
Meanwhile, Morag is feeling disappointed at Ross leaving town without much notice. After an uninvited girl chat with Irene, it’s brought to Morag’s attention that Ross thinks the world of her and that Morag has always gone out there and got what she wants – why stop now?
Ross soon surprises Morag by making his way to her house ready for a day of fishing and conversation. While out fishing he tells her he didn’t want to offend her, but he was suddenly reminded of her tough side when she attacked Colleen. He saw an easy way out of the relationship but knows that forgetting her is not what he wants. Ross and Morag reel in the fish as their bond strengthens.
At school, Miles is concerned after the controversial play ‘Spring Awakening’ is brought up in class. The issue of censorship arises and Miles’s attempt to control the release of the controversial book is ignored as the book is soon passed around the school.
Nicole causes controversy herself as she arrives at school in her altered, school uniform and Bartlett isn’t happy. It has had just the effect she was hoping for as she approaches Geoff about kissing lessons which he accepts, spending his lunch time with Nicole as teacher. Melody sees them exiting a classroom together after the experience and straight away thinks they were kissing. The look on Nicole’s face help to confirm her fears. Melody is already feeling insecure and questions whether she herself was a good enough kisser. Her jealousy over Nicole and Geoff ensues.
Jazz blackmail’s Bartlett into ignoring Nicole’s stunt in wearing the shortened dress as she reminds Bartlett that she saw him at an illegal fight and uses this as ammunition to get what she wants. Miles isn’t sure what Jazz has over Bartlett but he’s enjoying the power shift.
