Rachel’s horrified after Tony’s shock confession. Has Roman left his run too late with Charlie?
Extended Summary
Tony’s mind is racing as he tries to find a way of explaining Bridget’s presence to Rachel. When he passes her off as an old friend, Bridget notes his anxiety, realises that he and Rachel have reconciled and makes a hasty exit, throwing Tony an unimpressed look on her way out. It’s clear to us that she is no ordinary friend and when Rachel questions him about her, his guilt gets the better of him. He confesses that he slept with Bridget when he thought Rachel had left him for Hugh. Rachel is overcome and upset that he didn’t believe enough in their love and that he would rush into the arms of another woman. Angry, she tells him they need some time apart.
Bridget befriends Alf who is thrown by her no-nonsense attitude, especially when she spontaneously jumps behind the Surf Club bar to serve an impatient customer.
A passing comment from Colleen gives Martha the idea of a small service to commemorate the baby she so tragically lost. The tree-planting ceremony is an emotional but cathartic experience for Martha and afterwards she is ready to talk to Jack about chemotherapy and trying for another baby.
After several rejections from Roman, Charlie finally comes to the realisation that a casual relationship means that she is also free to date other people. Angelo’s flirting finally pays off when Charlie decides to accept a dinner date with him. Meanwhile, Nicole tells Roman that he isn’t treating Charlie well and that if he is not careful he will lose her for good.
Roman takes this on board and heads to the Surf Club for a bottle of wine to take to Charlie’s place as a surprise. But it is he who gets the surprise when he see Charlie looking stunning as she waits for her date at the Surf Club. She won’t tell him who she is seeing and a miffed Roman retreats, wondering if he has left his run too late and finally lost Charlie.
