Extended Summary

Annie is still in shock after witnessing what she believes was a kiss between Ruby and Miles, but Jai won’t believe her. Nevertheless, when Annie won’t drop it, he suggests they simply ask Ruby straight out and settle things for good. When they arrive at her house, they learn she’s gone searching for Melody with Miles, and Annie’s fears only mount. Annie finally catches up with Ruby at school, and Bartlett catches her passing a note. She’s forced to confess to what she thinks she saw. Ruby is totally embarrassed to have her crush revealed to Miles. Miles, for his part, is totally surprised by it, and then he realises what really happened. He’s forced to reveal his relationship with Kirsty, and Bartlett is stunned by hurt and disbelief.

Still searching, Geoff and Nicole are yet to come up with any sign of Melody. Nicole thinks they should go to the police, but Geoff isn’t willing to dob Melody in until they’ve exhausted all other options. But after a full day of searching without success, Geoff finally agrees to tell Charlie. Early the next day, Alf comes across Melody sleeping on the beach, but when he offers to help, she bolts. Then, when Nicole gets to school, Melody is there, waiting to see Geoff. When Nicole asks why she disappeared, Melody explains that her mother showed up at Geoff’s house, and she had to run. Nicole, knowing Melody’s mother is in New Zealand, is taken aback by just how delusional the girl is.

Nicole offers to go and get Geoff, who’s still out searching with Charlie and won’t be coming to school, but Melody takes flight, and Nicole chases after her. When she catches up to her, Nicole surreptitiously calls Charlie on her mobile phone as she tries to talk Melody into calming down. For once Nicole shows real compassion and understanding, not only getting through to Melody, but stalling her until Geoff and Charlie can arrive. With Melody back at the clinic, Geoff reveals how impressed he is with Nicole, and suggests they give things between them another go. But he’s still unwilling to sleep with her again, and Nicole, wanting to be true to herself, isn’t willing to get into that sort of relationship, so they decide simply to be friends.

Angelo is still trying to win Belle over, with characteristic persistence, and finally, after much effort, manages to land a date. Despite herself, Belle is growing to like him. Meanwhile, Aden’s therapy sessions are having real impact, and he finally comes to the realisation that his father couldn’t help him because, even as a grown man, he was still terrified of his father, still just a boy inside, unable to protect even himself. Impressed, his therapist offers to arrange a day release. Aden’s thrilled, and his first stop is Belle’s house. But as he sneaks in through the window, Belle comes through the door with Angelo, and unknown to them, Aden sees them kiss.
