Extended Summary
After their fallout at the party, Annie and Jai are keen to make amends with Ruby. When they approach her at the Surf Club, Mathew sees an in to start talking to Ruby, and suggests a game of pool. Given his past behaviour, Jai and Annie are not impressed, and Ruby takes the opportunity to leave. Annie again finds Ruby at home, and this time they make up. When Annie asks her to come out, Ruby’s not sure, she’s supposed to be watching over Ross, but he insists he’s fine, and she relents.
Mathew again tries to engage the group at the beach, and again meets only with derision. But as they walk away, Ruby drops her diary. He arrives at Ruby’s house to give it back and finds the kitchen full of steam, a kettle melted to the hot plate after being left on by Ross, who’s nowhere to be found. By the time Ruby and Charlie get home, he’s gotten it under control, and Ruby is impressed. But realising he’s already found an in, Mathew decides to keep the diary, hoping it will help him better understand her.
After their kiss, Aden wants to talk about what it meant for them, but Belle isn’t ready to confront her feelings for him, and Aden storms off angrily. Belle decides not to tell Angelo anything, and that it won’t happen again. But this time, Aden’s not willing to give up so easily. When he presses the issue the next day, they get into a fight. As far as Belle’s concerned, he had his chance, but he’s been blocking her out until now.
Aden blames Belle for hooking up with Angelo so quickly. But now he can’t understand why she’s fighting so hard when he’s obviously the one she prefers. Finally, Belle reveals that it’s because she’s made a commitment to Angelo, she’s sleeping with him. Aden’s gutted, but Belle has made her choice, convinced that however she feels about Aden, Angelo’s better for her. Even if it breaks both their hearts.
