Kirsty’s busted. Is Nicole school captain material? Annie makes the breakthrough Belle’s been looking for.
Extended Summary
When Nicole finds out Melody is running for student council at the same time as campaigning for Geoff as school captain, Nicole gets worried that the proximity of the two positions could bring the two together. So much to everyone’s surprise, she decides to run for female school captain herself, and promptly begins to bribe the voters.
All three of them win their respective elections, but when Nicole sees the real disappointment of the girls running against her, and begins to realise how much work will be involved as captain, she begins to wonder if she hasn’t made a mistake. Worse, Geoff isn’t impressed, knowing she didn’t run in order to help the school. Her plan to get closer has only driven him away.
On an excursion for science near the caravan park, Jai and Annie are asked to test samples of soil and leaves. To Annie’s surprise, she finds traces of arsenic in her sample. Belle takes a keen interest when she learns it was taken from somewhere so close to the development site. It’s possible the arsenic leeched out from the toxic waste, and large doses of it can cause cancer. As she thinks on just how many people who’ve lived in and around the caravan park have developed cancer, Belle realises how serious this could be.
When Kirsty’s asked to do another job as an escort, she turns it down. After the near disaster that was the hospital benefit, she’s decided to put the escort business behind her. She hates lying to Miles, and she doesn’t want to risk him ever finding out.
But then, whilst checking her banking details online, she gets distracted and forgets to close the computer down. When Miles gets home, he finds the banking page still open, and to his shock, finds Bartlett’s rather large payment for his date. Kirsty’s busted.
