Bridget’s past comes back to haunt her. Melody’s not giving up without a fight. Geoff and Nicole finally get their act together.
Extended Summary
Bridget’s plans for the bait shop are going well, and so is her relationship with Alf. Then Jack gets an odd call at the station from a guy in Broken Hill claiming Bridget owes him money. When he brings it up, Bridget claims he’s just an ex who can’t handle that it’s over.
Jack buys her story, but Bridget is left looking less than confidant. She tries to pitch her idea of advertising on the side of the Bait Shop’s boat to Tony, but he’s not interested, and she accuses him of turning her down because of their past. But Roman loves the idea, enough to give her cash on the spot. But soon after, she pockets five hundred of it, and in a call to Brian, the guy who called the police, promises he’ll get his money. Then she threatens him, warning him not to cause her any trouble.
Melody has it bad for Geoff; he’s all she can talk about. Knowing that she’s heading for a fall, Ruby decides to formulate a plan to soften the impact when Melody inevitably realises Geoff isn’t interested. She decides to set her up with another boy from school, the nerdy Trev, but it doesn’t go well, Melody can’t see why she’d be interested in Trev with Geoff around.
Then she walks in on Geoff and Nicole kissing, and she’s devastated, it feels like all her friends have betrayed her. After finding out what’s happened, Ruby goes to comfort her, but she’s concerned by what she hears. Melody still believes she’s the right girl for Geoff, even if he doesn’t know it, and she’s going to find some way to prove it.
Nicole is clearly hurt by the truth behind her mother’s actions, and takes hasty leave of the party. Geoff is worried, but has no idea what’s happened.
Finally, Nicole reveals the truth to Roman. This most recent in a long line of rejections by her mother makes her feel worthless. Geoff invites her over to talk, after she arrives they talk for a while and Geoff kisses her. He still likes her, and after her admission that she still has feelings for him as well, he wants to try a relationship.
It still has to be on his terms, no sex, but Nicole decides she’s finally alright with that, it’s not as if any of her past relationships, based on sex, worked out. Everything seems to have come up roses for Nicole. And then Natalie arrives on her doorstep, Roy’s had her evicted.
