Has Melody changed for good? It’s time for Leah to find her own happiness. What else does Bridget have up her sleeve?

Extended Summary

As Melody is walked away from the party by Nicole, Mathew comes after them, genuinely worried for her. Apparently he was locked in a van by Karl’s mates, but Nicole sends him away and takes Melody home. Despite the near disaster, Melody is unwilling to admit that her behaviour has gotten out of hand. The next day, Mathew asks Annie and Ruby if Melody is okay, and they’re thrown by his concern. Though peeved that Mathew abandoned her, Melody agrees to have lunch with him.

When it seems they’re getting chummy again, Ruby feels she has no choice, and tells Melody about Mathew’s declaration that he’d be willing to dump Melody on the spot. Mathew denies it, and Melody takes his side. But back at her house, Mathew admits that while at first he might have got with her to get at Ruby, he’s grown to actually like her. It’s a nice sentiment, but the truth is, Melody’s not really that into him, and she’d rather just hang out as friends. He agrees, but this certainly isn’t the end of Melody’s bad behaviour.

Things have been going well between Miles and Kirsty since their reconciliation, though they haven’t told anyone besides Alf, when they’re sprung by Colleen they decide they might as well let it come out in the open. Bartlett is happy for Kirsty, believing that she’s successfully turned her life around for the better. And so is Leah, though wistful. Miles is happy, and it’s time for her to get on with her own life.

Alf is furious with Bridget at first, and at himself for believing her lies and letting her steal the money. And then she tells him her cancer’s back. Apparently she didn’t tell him because she didn’t want him to have to face her burden as well as Martha’s. She took the money so she could go away and pay for treatment. Alf’s not sure what to think, and when she offers to give the money back, he takes it.

When Colleen sees her preparing to leave, Bridget begins to cry, sure that Alf must hate her, and tells her story. Colleen goes to Alf, thinking he should forgive Bridget, he can’t blame her for what she did under stress, especially since she has cancer. After much thought, Alf stops Bridget before she leaves, he wants her to stay, so he can take care of her. She’s overjoyed, but is it because Alf’s forgiven her, or because she’s gotten away with her lies?
