Extended Summary

In reaction to Kane’s crashing his car into the school formal hall, panic erupts. Belle and Leah are trapped in the kitchen where the car came in. A fire has broken out and is blocking the doorway to the hall. As the flames spread throughout the rest of the hall, people are desperately trying to break open the front doors that a paranoid Melody locked from outside before the crash. Finally, rescue crews manage to open the doors and the distressed students pile out.

Meanwhile, Aden and Miles have managed to free Leah and Belle from the kitchen but an explosion has left Belle with burns on her back. Annie, trapped in the car with Kane and Jai, eventually comes round from unconsciousness and manages to drag Jai out of the car. Charlie heroically manages to rescue Kane just before the car explodes.

Martha, worried about Jack’s whereabouts, arrives at the hall expecting to find him there. But when she can’t find him outside, she heads inside the burning building. The roof collapses and Martha becomes trapped. Meanwhile, Angelo has arrived, still shaken and wracked with guilt about shooting Jack dead. When he hears that Martha is inside the hall, he puts his life on the line and goes in after Martha to bring her back to safety. Is this to ease his conscious about the murderous crime he just committed?

At the hospital, Kane is being treated for internal bleeding. He was severely hurt during the crash. When Kirsty learns he might not make it, she’s devastated and begins to sob. With Kirsty so distraught over Kane, Miles fears for their future together. Will Kane survive?

Despite being safe herself, Martha’s anxiety continues to grow over where Jack is, Trying to pacify her worry, Tony heads off to find Jack. When he spots Jack’s car but can’t see him he begins to look around… eventually he spots a figure on the ground in the distance. As he approaches a horrifying shock hits him and he realises it is the body of his son – Jack is dead.
