Extended Summary
Hugo gives Alf a business proposal for the dive operation. Alf approaches Roman for his advice and Roman is unable to give an unbiased opinion given his feelings towards Hugo. When Alf turns down the proposal, Hugo knows exactly why and he confronts Roman who defends himself saying he has Alf’s best interests at heart. But Hugo’s words seem to have rattled Roman and he realises he may not have been as fair as he should have. Hugo is delighted when Alf tells him he’s reconsidered his proposal. He realises Roman must have had something to do with Alf’s change of heart and sends him an acknowledging nod. Could this be the beginning of a better relationship between these two?
Charlie apologises to Roman for ruining his friendship with Martha. Roman accepts her apology but admits he fears he may have lost Martha’s trust for good. Meanwhile, Martha has gone in for a breast reconstruction which she manages to keep secret until Charlie spots her at the hospital. Martha explains that she didn’t want to worry anyone, but Hugo insists they are family now so she can always rely on him.
Leah has come crashing down to earth after the disastrous events of her party. Nursing a hangover, Leah apologises to her mum for kicking her out the night before and tries to get Helen warmed to the idea of taking her father back. But Helen’s adamant that this time it’s over for good and she’s not picking up the pieces like she always does. Theo let the business go under and re-mortgaged their house without telling her – if they miss one loan payment they will lose their house.
Leah is shocked to hear how much money they owe and comes up with an idea to save the business involving using some of Dan’s money as a loan. Theo thinks it is a great idea but this further enrages Helen who can’t believe he would take money off his own daughter. She storms off with Theo rushing after her, leaving Leah exasperated. As Leah clears up the remains of the party, Theo arrives with his suitcases. Helen has thrown him out and he has come to live with Leah. Leah is stunned and panicked – there is no way they can live together but how can she tell her father without causing more upset?
