Melody makes a decision about her future. Aden’s good intentions anger Joey. Freya profits from Belle’s downward spiral.

Extended Summary
Melody is shaken up having seen her mother. She can’t stop thinking about how she seemed like she had changed. Miles encourages Melody to try and get their relationship back on track – if that’s what she wants. Melody’s left with food for thought and when Christine later comes to visit, Melody’s intrigued to hear what she has to say. She is thrown when Christine asks her if she’ll go to New Zealand to live with her and her gran. Annie can’t believe Christine’s turn around and is surprised to learn that Melody is actually considering moving.
Miles finds out about Christine’s offer through Annie, which Melody feels terrible about, but Miles just wants her to be happy and will support her no matter what. Melody’s touched by his unconditional support. Christine visits to get hear Melody’s decision…the bottom line is that Melody doesn’t think she can trust Christine like she can trust Miles. Instead of going backwards, she wants to move forwards and that means staying right where she is – in Summer Bay with Miles. Despite being hurt, Christine is gracious about Melody’s decision and we can’t help but wonder if she really has changed.
Freya tells Xavier she is running out of money and won’t be able to stick around much longer unless she can get rid of the pot she’s been trying to sell. Xavier is reluctant to help, but finally agrees to sell some at school as a one-off. However, when Xavier sells it all, Freya tells him she is going to buy some more with the proceeds. Her plan changes though when she spots Belle’s drug hangover and realises she might be interested in some pills. Xavier’s dismayed when Freya buys pills off complete strangers but her plan comes through. Belle has just been given another deadline and needs some help to keep her awake…Freya tells her she has just what she needs!
Aden is facing a dilemma after Joey asked him to throw in his job in order to save hers. He returns home to find Belle slumped over the computer, barely registering when he tells her what happened. The next morning Aden’s irritated that Belle can’t even remember what he said last night. He explains to Joey that he won’t quit his job but wants to do something to make her life easier on the boat. Ever keen for new story ideas and eager to show Aden she cares, Belle suggests she write an article on rights in the workplace for the paper. Joey reacts angrily, annoyed that Aden told Belle about her problems – she doesn’t want an article, she just wants Aden to drop it before he draws even more unwanted attention to her. But determined to do something, Aden talks to Lou who tells him both their jobs are safe and promises to have a word with the boys. Joey is horrified when she finds out. Aden has just made things a whole lot worse – does he realise how much she is going to cop it now?
