Extended Summary

Whilst arguing over the necklace incident Aden grabs Belle’s handbag and tips it’s contents out. He discovers the bottle of pills Belle bought and is furious. He searches her room and finds a stash of sleeping pills. Enraged he throws the pill bottle at the wall, sending the contents flying, and storms out.

Later while cleaning up the pills from her bedroom floor Belle is surprised by a knock at the door. It’s Annie, worried she has heard Belle crying. Belle tells her she has a headache and eventually Annie desists.

Belle calls Aden the next day and leaves a message begging him to call her, she needs to know where they stand. Out on the trawler, Aden ignores Belle’s messages but later goes to the Beach House and demands an explanation.Belle tells Aden the whole sorry story about her drug addiction. She started because she was depressed and anxious over everything that happened with the development. After being injured she told herself she was in more pain than she was to justify taking the pills. They made her numb, they made her forget her pain. Belle admits that she has been lying to Aden. She tells him she didn’t quit her job at the Coastal News, Paula found pills in her desk and sacked her. Aden can’t comprehend any of Belle’s motives for drug use- after dealing with his father’s addiction it’s all too much and he leaves once again. Belle flushes all her pills down the toilet and later, Aden finds Belle and tells her that if she can get clean without him he will be there waiting for her when she does. Belle is overjoyed. She vows to get clean for him.

Martha is worried when Geoff becomes obsessed with making plans for her farm. Geoff seems fixated with recapturing the life he had when he lived on the farm with Bruce and Annie. Realising his recent break up with Nicole has left him with a loss of direction, Martha gently tells Geoff that he needs to remember why he left the farm. All the dreams he had. He needs to move on. Geoff concedes that he does need to move on. Martha tells him she’d love him to be a part of the new farm, but it’s her home now, her vision, a new era.

Irene bumps into Tony on the beach and Tony comments that she seems down. She tells him about her break up with Lou, and he invites her to come and help out up at the farm, as a distraction. She accepts the invitation. Annie runs into Lou, looking for Irene at the Diner, and is tempted to tell him Irene’s whereabouts. Later out on the farm Annie finds a wistful Irene, contemplating Lou. Irene is despondent after her break up, but after recounting to Annie the fact he has a nasty soon to be ex and is going through a messy divorce she feels her actions were justified. Annie however has other ideas, and wonders why Irene is spending so much time thinking about Lou if she doesn’t want to be with him. Irene tells her she just can’t get him out of her head. A smile creeps across Annie’s face. As everyone prepares to leave the farm Lou arrives. Irene sends Annie a look but part of her is relieved to see Lou again. He takes Irene to a pier where he shows her his boat. A luxury cruiser – Irene is spellbound. Lou asks Irene to come away with him, just the two of them on an extended trip to sea.

The next day Annie discovers a morose Aden in the Diner. He tells her his relationship with Belle is pretty much over. Annie questions why, but Aden only confides that Belle has done something he doesn’t think he can get over. Annie reminds him of all the times Belle’s been there for him. Through his issues with his father, his stay at the clinic. Aden is left with food for thought.
