Extended Summary
As Jerry continues to snap exclusive photos of Liam’s breakdown, Aden manages to pull himself back to safety, but insists on staying with Liam until his drug-induced psychosis diminishes. As a terrified Belle watches on, Aden is able to talk Liam into coming down for Belle’s sake. On the ground, reporters converge on Liam as a grateful Belle throws her arms around Aden Aden, unsure where he and Belle stand, tells Belle to make sure Liam gets help and leaves. In the ambulance, Liam pleads with Belle to come with him, but she tells him she can’t. She’s already called Craig at the rehab centre – she wants Liam to get better. Liam is so sorry and wishes things could’ve worked out different. But now Belle knows it could never have worked out – because she’s in love with someone else, and tells Liam so. The ambulance drives off and Belle is left feeling exhausted and foolish. She believed in Liam and he let her down. Aden later finds Belle crying – about Irene, Lou, the fact that Liam let her down so badly – he takes her in his arms and holds her tight.
Claudia tells Martha she still hasn’t confirmed her pregnancy – partly because she’s in denial but also because she’s scared Geoff is going to run a mile. Martha knows Geoff really cares about Claudia and he’s definitely not that sort of guy. But until Claudia is honest with him, she won’t know where she stands. Geoff is growing frustrated at the distance between him and Claudia, and is convinced that she wants to get back with Lachie. Jai tells him that, given the distance she is putting between them, whatever the news is can’t be good. Taking Martha’s advice on board, Claudia meets up with Geoff and reluctantly tells him she’s late. Geoff is stunned, but as Martha predicted, his first concern is that Claudia must have been going through hell keeping it to herself. Later, they do the pregnancy test and, before they discover the result, Geoff promises whatever happens they’ll get through it together and a fragile and very teary Claudia realises he’s not going anywhere. When it returns a positive reading, Geoff is shell-shocked as he realises he’s on the road to teenage fatherhood.
Nicole reveals to Trey that Gardy has been hitting on her, and Trey insists that she has to tell Roman. From what Trey’s seen of Roman, he’s totally protective of Nicole, and she can be pretty sure he won’t stand for Gardy’s sleaziness. And indeed, when Nicole tells him, Roman is furious and while he knows he’s in a terrible predicament, promises to sort Gardy out.
Leah calls round with VJ, and is concerned that Roman isn’t taking their business seriously enough and is instead frittering away all his time with Gardy. Gardy arrives at this point, making Leah uncomfortable, and she angrily leaves when he starts scaring VJ with tales from Afghanistan. Roman calls him out on this, and on his treatment of Nicole. Initially he tries to insinuate that Nicole is making it up, but to Roman’s surprise, Gardy admits to stepping over the line with Nicole and promises not to let it happen again. This leaves Roman in even more of a dilemma – now getting rid of Gardy will be next to impossible. Nicole returns home and when she discovers Gardy is still around, she feels totally betrayed by her father. She accuses Roman of choosing a scumbag over his own daughter and she rushes out leaving Roman tortured over what he’s putting her through. An almost inconsolable Nicole runs into the arms of Trey, telling him he’s the only one who truly understands her, and the two head off – planning to have rebellious sex. Meanwhile, Gardy uses his power over Roman, telling him the time has come. Roman’s heart sinks – he isn’t sure what he’s in for, but he knows it won’t be good.
