Extended Summary
Belle is worried about how she’s going to break the news of the murder charge to Irene, the pressure of the situation clearly getting to her. After she cancels another one, Aden is concerned that Belle has been missing her NA meetings lately and they argue. Aden tells Rachel he’s worried he might have wrecked their friendship. Irene is feeling low about the charges and encourages Belle and patch up things with Aden. Back in her cell, Irene asks one of the officers for a drink – knowing that nothing gets past the officer, she accuses her of turning a blind eye to whoever is leaving the alcohol in her cell, but the officer denies all knowledge. Belle comes home to find Claudia’s sleeping pills. She brings them to Aden and asks him to take the pills away from her, admitting she was tempted to take them, and she suggests he should stay away from her. Later he climbs in through her window – Belle expects Aden to hate her for this, but he says he admires her for the strength she’s shown these past weeks, and their fight is forgotten.
Angelo is determined to find evidence to prove Irene’s innocence. Although Charlie tries to persuade him it’s a lost cause, he keeps going over Lou De Bono’s boat looking for some clue. In his frustration he kicks on the railings and discovers some dried blood which he promptly gets checked out. Angelo tells Aden and Belle about his discovery, that the blood doesn’t match either Irene or Lou’s which means it is probable that someone else was on the boat that night. It turns out that the discovery backs up Irene’s story and the prosecution decide to drop the murder charge against her pending further investigation. It also strengthens Irene’s argument that she shot the cop in self-defence. Belle is so delighted about this that she kisses Aden and they wind up having sex. Aden tells Belle that he never stopped loving her and they get back together.
Hugo arrives home to a frosty reception from Xavier and Martha. Later Hugo apologises to Martha for taking off, he says he just needed some time to think, and says he can get past his feelings for her. Hugo is confident that he can bury his feelings so that he and Xavier with remain living with Martha, but she is unconvinced. Martha admits to Rachel that she’s not sure if she can live with Hugo – especially as yes, she does have feelings for him, feelings which make her think she’s completely betraying Jack. Martha thinks about what she should do and, later that night tells Hugo she’s made a decision – she’s decided to move out to the farm.
