Extended Summary
Since Martha has vented her upset at Tony for his plan to take Angelo on a fishing trip, Rachel pleads with Hugo to go and check on a Martha at the farm. Rachel wants to know she’s okay and hopes that Martha’s now fractured relationship with Tony can be healed somehow. Hugo makes his way to the farm and finds Martha in the process of working away at the fuse box. Even though its awkward for him, his mind remains fixed on the reason he’s there as he raises a point with her – losing Tony from Martha’s life isn’t going to make losing Jack any easier. Martha slowly accepts his words but the truth is that Tony has gone on a fishing trip on today of all days – Jack’s birthday. This is news to Hugo who now finds Tony’s timing a bit concerning.
While at the farm and once again in close proximity to each other, both Hugo and Martha have to once more deal with their growing feelings. Hugo is quick to offer his help with her tasks but the last thing Martha wants is Hugo hanging around the farm and helping her out – it’s simply too much of a reminder that she once had a husband to help her out with these types of things. Martha sharply admits to Hugo that he’s certainly no replacement for Jack.
Miles and Charlie bump into each other on the beach. They each explain how they’re having trouble coming to terms with Roman’s arrest – both having lost a friend and the fact that Gardy has got away. May approaches Miles to give him some rent for her van, and he asks her how her date went last night. Whilst Charlie is oblivious as to who May went on her date with, May goes onto explain how Angelo is a lovely guy. This clearly affects Charlie – is she jealous?
Hugo and Alf are putting together some disturbing parts of Tony’s plan to go fishing with Angelo. They have added up the facts: It’s Jack’s birthday, Tony’s taken Angelo to Perkins Point, a hazardous fishing spot and its right near where Jack is buried. Hugo lets Martha in on their concerns – it’s clear something is not right with this innocent fishing trip. Alf and Hugo head off to find them. When Martha later voices her concerns to Charlie, she too agrees that something doesn’t seem right, and they decide to head to Perkins Point also.
Rachel, in a moment of queasiness at work, begins to collapse. With Miles there to catch her, she regains her composure and quickly discovers that she’s bleeding. Within a heartbeat she is raised onto a trolley by nearby medics, given oxygen and wheeled off to be examined. Rachel’s thoughts are swirling but in a flash her thoughts jump to Tony – she wants him by her side. But Tony, with Angelo being the only thing on his mind, doesn’t answer her emergency call. Will Rachel and their baby be okay?
Meanwhile, away on the fishing trip, Tony is leading an oblivious Angelo to the main fishing spot. There is lots of talk from Tony about Jack and Angelo wonders why he is privy to this download of information from Tony. Tony states that he’s had enough for the time being and wants a break. He tells Angelo that he wants to show him something, and they leave the gear to take a walk. When Tony’s talk turns into a revealing personal history of the type of loss Tony has had to endure, suddenly Angelo is no longer comfortable in this once friendly situation. Angelo asks where they are going but Tony is being mysteriously secretive – all is revealed when they end up at Jack’s grave. Tony continues on, sharply turning the conversation to the absence of Jack in his life and how it doesn’t seem right that Jack’s dead and Angelo’s alive. With Tony almost disconnected from emotion, Angelo feels the chills of this dangerous situation very clearly now – Tony’s anger is palpable. Angelo makes a clear decision to walk away which enrages Tony who launches himself at Angelo in fury.
After wrestling with each other, Tony is suddenly in the advantageous position of holding Angelo at the edge of the cliff with a knife to his throat – it seems he is ready to end Angelo’s life. Angelo, unable to escape, suddenly surrenders and tells Tony to do it. The moment is suspended as his statement hangs in the air – will Tony kill Angelo?
